It's not the first time they've done this, though. Remember how long it took them to say anything about ME3 following its initial announcement? At least four months.

Says the guy who claims to have inside sources at Bioware.
And considering how fast threads about the leaked info got locked after the announcement, even though they were confirmed legit by the game's title, I'd say it's a safe bet that Bioware wants to control the narrative/news flow.

We knew Mass Effect 3 was coming before Mass Effect 2 was released. And that series was just one long story with a cohesive style. The Dragon Age franchise is very much in flux and people want to know what to expect.

They showed concept art at PAX East. They've been openly talking about "the next thing" for months. It wasn't a secret. The Flynn post did two things: Confirm its name, announce Frostbite 2. The press release gave a release window.
But there has been information trickling out, intentionally as well as unintentionally, for some time now.
There's still nothing for your assumption said announcement had anything to do with the Doctors.
That they want to control the narrative and manage expectations is completely understandable and completely commonplace. In of itself, this fact is meaningless.

Bioware's own announcement acknowledges that people may be concerned about the Doctors departing. Then they make announcements of 3 new games, 2 of them untitled and all of them lacking in visual media.
And the concept art they showed at PAX was only intended for the audience at that showing. It was not available to everyone.

Logic dictates that if Bioware/EA cares about money/seeing the largest audience possible, DA3 will be on PS3/360. And seeing as how Bioware can't operate without money...you put two and two together with common sense - You have your answer.
Unless one of these new consoles wants to drop an insane amount of money to make it exclusive. Which isn't happening. And if it did, timed at best. EA's potential $$$ gain on PS3/360 would far exceed any new console can provide...

Consider also that the PS4, or whatever it is going to be called, is likely to be released later than the next XBOX. Having to deal with all of those different schedules just seems like more trouble than it is worth to me.
