Though I sometimes think Shepard is unrealistically young - are there many real-life naval officers, even very good ones, who become XO of a top-of-the-line ship at age 29?

If there ever would be a Mass Effect movie who would be best suited for the role of Shepard in your opinion? Nic Cage here can fit any role

So basically, a film like all video game adaptations ever.Logan Cloud wrote...
I actually welcome a video game movie that's not meant to be taken seriously at all.

Not exactly. Most game-based movies are meant to be taken seriously. They're just done terribley.
I'd like to see someone buy the rights to make a movie about a popular game, and just TRY to make it crappy. Y'know, for the lolz.

Yeah a movie would be horrible. Look at how bad Max Payne turned out, that movie is awful and Mark Walhberg Mila Kunis were horrible casting choices. I wanted to bash my head into a wall after watching it.Greylycantrope wrote...

Mass Effect will probably end up in development hell like the Halo movie.

No, Shepard is about the right age for her/his command. Canonically, s/he enlisted at 18. Two to four years is a reasonable time for a commission, and if s/he was promoted regularly (which, considering both the need for officers and Shepard's history, is believable and likely), that would put her/him squarely in the early thirties, late twenties. Remember, Shepard is career military, not contracted enlistment.FlyingSquirrel wrote...
Aren't all of these guys quite a bit older than Shepard is supposed to be?

Now what's harder to believe is a 25-year-old senior NCO. That, and the VS rapid ladder climbing.

All Shepards got some noteworthy achivements under their belts.
Such things can propell a person or officer faster through the ranks than sitting behind a desk.
Some are very good at the desk art though, with good connections.

I love that actor and mean no offence to OP but, Tootles FTW, that was just... just...
I'll be here all night. Along with Cage's prominent Widow's Peak.
Serious answer, though: I think Sam Worthington certainly looks the part of (male) Commander Shepard. I've only seen him act in Avatar, however.
