So devs said that companions will be a little more customizable this time around with pieces of gear that you will give them, but they will retain their own personal style, aka make that piece of gear look like it is theirs to begin with. Those of you who watched Pax interview will know what I am talking about.
So I am wondering if the PC could choose a template too? Something that defines them as a character, and would be able to then have the same STYLE appearence no matter what gear you choose? That way we don't have to choose between armor looks and stats, and we get to have our own personal style.
Thoughts?
Can the player maybe have an appearence template like companions do?

Generally I would personally prefer not to have fixed templates. But if this truly becomes a feature and we have no option of changing it then,
YES: IF there are MULTIPLE templates to choose from
NO: IF there is a SINGLE template

NO: IF there is a SINGLE template

While interesting, I think there's a problem in how many templates they can create. Characters can be wildly different and if they have a personalized style then that style should reflect that -- but I'm not sure if it's feasible to create the number of templates that would be necessary for that instead of just having the player choose if a worse armour is worth it for its looks.

It totally then depends on how much resources it takes bioware to make a single template. If its in the low end they can make a lot of them. If its high end even then i am certain they can put a few of them there. Another issue irrespective of resources is how many types of templates is enough. 5 or 10 or 15..??
