I started playing DAO this weekend (cause I was getting a bit board of ME3), and was planning to play DA2 when done with DA1. I began to go through DA1 doing a lot of the side missions mainly to level up,when it dawned on me what might carry over from DA1 and 2 into 3. Like right now I am facing off with Flemith trying to decide wether to kill her or not. I know she lives regardless (having played DA2 a few times). But if I let her live and she appears in 3 will she be an ally? Or if I kill her will she be an enemy?

Then I began to wonder what else might carry over. In the ME trilogy if you collected the Asari Writing in ME1 they are used in ME3, but of course you didn't know that while playing ME1. So I wonder what else in the DA series will carry over into 3. Not reading anything regarding DA3 as of yet I can only assume for right now.

I do hope that the charactor I created in DA1 carries over as well as the romance.

what do yall think will carry over?

My hope is that they'll need practically nothing from the first two Dragon Age episodes. I prefer the writers have their hands unbound as much as possible (as there's already plenty to limit them just by the interface and game mechanics alone). In my brain, I'd just have place a copy of the previous variables in the character's individual save folder for later games to import and use as they see fit.

That's just my preference, though. I'm olde-skool where video game sequels ignored multiple endings and picked a canon ending from where to continue.

Alistair's weight gain problem, in DA3 we get tto either force him to diet threw a series of ha-ha-halarious minni games or encourage him to eat more thus having more of Alistair to love~!

Of course toughening him up in origins plays a part too

Hopefully if you chose to kill the mages or save them both in origins and in dragon age 2. Who you made king of the dwarfs and whether or not you kept the anvil of the void. I'd like to see a town featuring the werewolves from the forest where they can either be humans struggling to survive in a new land or werewolves trying to hide their true nature from you.

Personally I'd love it if even the little choices made a difference. Did you recover the Warden's keep meaning they have a stronger military presence in that region? Did you save everyone in Red Cliff allowing for a speedier recovery as the nation? One of the big concepts behind dragon age for me is that your decisions would matter in later extensions of the game. Well I'd like to see them start carrying some more weight. I'd also like to go visit Sebastian and kill the day lights out of the mage hater. Given that I'm very much pro mage I would expect him to be a hindrance to my efforts in DA 3.

Hopefully a broken Isolde is carried over to DA3. I made her kill her own son because of her annoying VO. Maybe I can end her misery once and for all in DA3 by handing her the Murder Knife. She can scream "Tegan!" before she takes her own life.

Ok seriously, I'm not that evil. Although tempting, I don't think I could do that. Anyways, I'd like to see Morrigan's plot in DA3. What's on the other side of the Eluvian? Even the book she handed over. I'd like to see my Warden too but it will never happen. The entire Witch Hunt DLC is one big mystery that never ended with closure, IMO. I want Morrigan back!

I have no idea what will carry over, but things I'd like to see carry over:

-Status of the circle tower in Ferelden
-Hawke's choice in regards to the mages vs templars climax
-Who sits on the thrones of Ferelden and Orzammar
-Was the Dark Ritual performed
-Status of the Sabrae clan (alive/slaughtered)
-Status of the Architect (alive/dead)
-Romances, hopefully with resolved flagging issues
I didn't take issue with Zevran chasing Izzy in my game (it would have been kind of hypocritical after the foursome at the Perl) but I was disappointed when the romance wasn't acknowledged later... or at all... even in the codex. D:
-Resolved flagging issues for the status of Awakening characters (alive/dead)
Nathaniel didn't die in my game, but his quest still locked out ):

Some Cameo's I'd like to see:

-I don't know if Shale was in Asunder because I haven't read the book yet, but Shale?
-Isabela would be interesting, considering the whole Arishok thing and comic book events
-Same goes for Varric
-Heck, if Anders survived DA2, I'd be curious to see what he's up to
-If the Grey Wardens crop up, it would be nice to see Bethany/Carver/Oghren/anyone from the Awakening expansion instead of an NPC
-Alistair and Anora, possibly both together if you let them joint rule in DAO
I'm kind of curious to see what their marital situation is like XD

Those would be my picks, anyway.

I think the choice to use new protagonists with each entry was made to facilitate this sort of thinking.

I guess a few previous characters from both games will carry over, I'd like to see Herren and Wade again. Presumably big choices from the previous games will carry over too (pro-Mage/pro-Templar, Hawke's LI, Warden's LI, whether your Warden is dead or alive etc.) Aside from that hopefully the Black Emporium mirror will make a return, as will cameos.

I think/hope these things carry over from 1&2:

1) Who killed Archdemon
2) Whose ruling Ferelden
3) Whose ruling Orzammar
4) Dark Ritual happened/didn't happen
5) Loghain alive/dead
6) Architect alive/dead
7) Who Hawke sided with Mages/Templars
8) Arishok alive/dead
9) Sister Petrice alive/dead
10) Who was romanced in both games, but only really necessary if romanced characters have cameos.

I don't expect any of these to have a huge impact on the plot as well, but just to slightly affect some quests - similar to how if certain characters lived in ME1 and 2, they were involved in your missions in ME3, but otherwise someone else was just subbed in.

I'm expecting the following choices to have the most impact

1. Dark Ritual/Ultimate Sacrifice
2. Ruler of Fereldan
3. Ruler of Orzammar
4. Status of the Fereldan Circle
5. Loghain alive/dead
6. Architect alive/dead
7. How the Qunari conflict was solved
8. Status of the Kirkwall Circle

Honestly, I hope they abandon imports. I think that if they did that, they could allow choices that can alter the fate of all Thedas without backing themselves into a corner (OGB comes to mind). I hope they just establish a canon for every game. I don't even mind if canon changes from game to game, if they think that having the setting altered would benefit the game.

Then again, I'm less concerned on how the choices a PC made in one game effect other games than I am on how much choice each individual game gives me.

I would really like to hear about Ferelden, and how they are all doing. I still feel a connection to that dirty, muddy place. ^_^

We know the decition about Connor is imported into DA2 but never used. I hope to se some of the outcomes from this.

DA2 only had few choises that seemed to carry any baggage: Your sibling and who the champion helps in the end.
I hope to meet Beth and Carver, and if there is going to be any returning companions, I hope it's them.

Loghain went to Orlais in Awakening, I'm still hoping to see him, but only if the writers can find a good spot for him.

To be honest - after DA2 and having another new character - I'm really not as fussed as I would have thought I would be if nothing carried over.

I mean I'd love it if everything carried over and it was amazing - but if there is no connection to DA1 and DA2. I'm cool with that.

I honestly think DA3 will have more to do with DA2 than DAO. Reason: DAO was basically a set piece for other stories using the lore of what happened during the third blight. Not only did they have the blight to deal with, but the biggest scandal in history that almost brought Fereldan to the brink of civil war, and how a group of heroes lead by a Grey Warden helped unite a nation and defeat the archdemon.

So far, DA2 did touch upon incidents and characters from DAO, but the way they ended DA2 it seemed like the next chapter will deal with what occured in the Free Marches. I look forward to DA3, and I hope the game play of DAO makes a return, but improved upon.
