I live outside a small village with my parents near the mountains and i have been well protected but still had to do all the chores to help out.
I have a big fear of wolves as i was attacked when very young and i cannot shake the fear.
One day my house is attacked by a group of people, they killed my father and mother while i was made to watch as i was too afraid to fight, i was cowering on the floor like a baby as the group of bandits stabbed me and left me to die.
I don’t remember how i survived but i found myself at a cliff and in my despair i was ready to jump to my destiny but then saw a sword on the ground next to the bushes and a thought came to my mind, jump and end it all or pick up the sword and fight and never become afraid again of anything and protect your friends at any cost.
When i fight i want the camera to shake in the first few fights because i am still afraid until i get more experience, and would like the camera to shake less the more experience i had until i eventually become unafraid and free from the fear. Similar to Jackie Chan in one of his films, he gets beaten up all the time until he learns how to fight.
Rogue Start.... or maybe Warrior Start.

That way you have the name recognition of a noble family, but the "Complete Nobody" status when on the battlefield.

I'd like to start out as a member of nobility, similar to the Human Noble origin in DAO, but when we have our first "boss encounter" we get our ****es handed to us. Thus setting up an impetus for expanding our combat knowledge whilst serving as a 'dangling carrot' Act One antagonist until the full plot & villain unfolds.

If I have to start as a noble, I'd like this. but i think it could be good for every other Origins, too. Have confrontaton that go wrong with the "boss" (maybe someone you want to kill for revenge) and than be taken by the Inquisition and trained for the first part of the game. than you gain power and strenght, and than you can have your chance to take revenge.
but you had revelation during your training, and maybe you can decide not to kill that person. A little as with Logahain

I played a city elf like that in DAO. It was wonderful fun.fchopin wrote...
I want to play a scared kid of about 18 years old who is afraid to fight.

I can totally get behind this.Rylor Tormtor wrote...
You know, I would like an option to play an origin/presence/preset background or whatever that is not a young kid. Maybe a retired city guard, or former circle mage. I mean, I don't expect to be more powerful or anything, but it would be fun, as an old timer, to play a character that is closer to my own age.
When possible, my first playthrough of every game uses basically the same character. He's a mage, he's male, he's human, and he's 51 years old. I'e been playing that character in games for more than 10 years.
I play many different characters on subsequent playthroughs, but my first try - my baseline playthrough - always uses that character because I know him so well.

If there has to be a set background... what about something in between humble beginnings and someone who is already experienced and well established in their line of work? Maybe a stable hand (a mage would be keeping their magic secret of course, while a rogue and warrior might be closer to a squire)? Someone that's working close enough to the action to be aware of what's going on, but who is in the position to think that what is happening isn't their problem... at first.

I like starting out as an underdog or had a crappy life and ends up being respected and powerful

But if the character is supposed to be somewhat experienced then I'd like to see them start with a couple of skills (imagine a standard level 4-5 character) to reflect that I have had some training.
Take the DAO human or dwarf noble warrior, they must had the worst instructors money could buy for only learning Shield Bash.

For some reason I have the impression the PC will be in the room when it all goes to hell, before the split happens, and that's where they get recruited.
