Dragon Age FAILED

Some problems that I peronally found:
No first person view
The whole team idea.I dont want to worry about 5 characters at once.
NO JUMP FEATURE. Which means restricted areas.
WHAT HAPPEND TO FREE ROAM??
Bland characters
Always doing quests is boring, you cant even attack friendlies
Really i expected a game one to challenge Bethesda. Oblivion is BY FAR the funner game. Giving the rpg player that what they most desire FREEDOM.
Getting around is horrible and slow
Really anyone that has played Elder Scroll Iv or even Morrowind would agree that this game failed.
Im not trying to be smart or anything. Honestly dissapointed with the game. I know however many people do like it and i respect their views. This is just my PERSONAL opion

Be damn sure, if I pay good money for something, I'll get my moneys worth before parting company with it.
As someone who 'has' played the aformentionned games, I actually do believe DA is far superior. Mainly in the story/writing/character aspect. Yes the others may be more free raoming, but DA is a far superior game in ever other aspect (IMO).
My only advise would be to not compare it to those other games, take your time, complete the origin story and get into the main game and then see how you feel about it, I am sure your opinion will change

Well I must be an excellent example of such a person!Really anyone that has played Elder Scroll Iv or even Morrowind would agree that this game failed.
I played and modded both Oblivion and Morrowind and their respective expansions. They are probably the games I have played for most hours out of all games I have ever played.
Yet I disagree with you. This game didn't fail. It wasn't supposed to be a free roaming do-what-you-want RPG. It was supposed to be a typical Bioware fantasy RPG. A linear story-telling game based on dialogue decisions and tactical combat. And guess what? That's exactly what it was.
I am sorry that you "wasted" your money but perhaps you have learned a lesson from this: always know what game you're buying BEFORE you buy it.

You are obviously a troll, but if you don't want that collectors edition how bout you send it my way.
I'd have to agree. I would love a collector's edition. ;p I don't understand how one can enjoy the Elder Scrolls line and not enjoy this game. The storyline is so rich and I love the "bland" characters. But hey, to each his own I guess.

You played 20 mins and you cant have finished a origin and you come up with this, I know you have your opinion but...but......
"The whole team idea.I dont want to worry about 5 characters at once." the whole thing fails here, you can only have 4 chars at the same time so......sorry ......I cant take you seriously

Bioware has, as far as I know, not a single game with first person view. Having a party and a more story driven linear plot is another known feature of Bioware games.
Seems to me as if it was your own fault...

The characters look and feel much better in Dragon Age; the gestures and the cinematic camera angle makes it a more rewarding and engaging experience, plus the background characters don;t freeze in time like they do in Oblivion.
Overall, I admit that Oblivion is a much bigger game, and I think it will always have way more mods and it will always look way better than Dragon Age... I must say that BioWare has not yer produced any visually stunning games except Mass Effect, and even that has some very empty levels. Still, I enjoy the gameplay of Dragon Age very much and I think Dragon Age has the right focus on the right thing and does well what it sets out to do.

I don't think The Elder Scrolls series and Dragon Age are really comparable games, beyond both being RPG's and both being single player.Nemanji wrote...

The Elder Scrolls series are what's commonly called "sandbox" games, which indeed gives a lot more freedom for the player. However, the story behind Dragon Age beats most of the sandbox games, including most of The Elder Scrolls hands down. Each Elder Scrolls game can be played as a stand alone game. HAS to be played as a stand alone game even. The abundance of freedom basically prohibits Bethesda from implementing any continueing themes and storylines. The only continuous thing in The Elder Scrolls is the freedom given in character development. There are hardly even references in either Morrowind or Oblivion towards happenings in previous games, since depending on what was done in the previous game, any such references might be entirely false.
Of course, the no-jumping part is interesting, since it sometimes feels limiting. However, it is the way BW decided to implement bounderies within the game, not to mention saving themselves from a lot of headaches about implementing proper pathing, and without turning the game into a 3D platform jumping game like Super Mario.
As much as I like The Elder Scrolls, and especially the grandest version of all, Daggerfall, despite all it's bugs, I'm rather enjoying BW's game engine, since it has its own merrits.

If that was what you were expecting then I can understand your dissappointment, you really shouldve checked some previews and read some articles before buying.
Ive played both Morrowind & Oblivion + Fallout 3. I liked both Morrowind and Oblivion ok and loved Fallout 3 but I put DA:O above all of those games. However, I knew what I bought and I knew what to expect. Ive played and loved almost every Bioware RPG since BG and DA:O is (IMO) a mix of BG and Star Wars KOTOR.
The thing is the Bethesda RPG's are a totally different genre than DA:O. Those games are free roaming sandbox solo RPG's, while DA:O, KOTOR and BG are story driven, party based RPG's.
I think you should try and get away from the Oblivion mind set and just try to enjoy the game for what it is.

I never finished morrowind or oblivion, and I finished Dragon Age Origins. That is already saying a lot. DAO grabbed my attention and never let go long after I finished the game. I can't wait to see what they do with it next.
Getting around couldn't be faster, unless your loading times are really bad on your system. It only takes seconds on mine. I have only seen one bland character in the game, the rest are pretty well developed and have a lot of character. Quests are part of MMO's especially the main questline and side quests are optional. You don't have to take any characters you don't want and setting their AI makes it super easy and you don't have to micromanage every move they make. Saying the game failed is really bogus, seems more like you failed at DAO! DAO is way more fun that Bethesda's game IMO.

Your opinion

RPGs aren't for you. Try MW2.

Sorry, this isn't a product of piece of trash company called Bethesda. It's an old school RPG designed for people who breathe air through their mouth. Oblivion blows.
Really anyone that has played Elder Scroll Iv or even Morrowind would agree that this game failed.
Elder scrolls/Morrowind are mediocre games. Wandering aimlessly is fun, right?
Im not trying to be smart or anything. Honestly dissapointed with the game. I know however many people do like it and i respect their views. This is just my PERSONAL opion

I for one enjoy both games for what they do differently. You should have been aware of what type of game DA was. You could have found out by doing about 5 minutes of research online. The game didn't fail. You failed by blindly purchasing a game (and the expensive CE at that!). Well, hope ya learned your lesson!

So, your conclusions are based on 20 mins of playtime?Nemanji wrote...

3rd person is superior in a game like thisNo first person view
I like party-based RPG's but it's your opinion. There's 4 characters and with tactics and easy difficulty, you don't have to micromanage them too much. The whole team idea.I dont want to worry about 5 characters at once.
This is supposed to be a fairly linear RPG. I'm sorry if somebody informed you wrong.NO JUMP FEATURE. Which means restricted areas.
WHAT HAPPEND TO FREE ROAM??
You played for 20 minutes? I found them interesting. In general much more interesting than Oblivion or Morrowind.Bland characters
Boring quests, fair enough. I found some of them boring too. Again, you played for 20 minutes. Attacking friendlies is something I did not miss.Always doing quests is boring, you cant even attack friendlies.
I found Oblivion worse and more boring than Dragon Age.Really i expected a game one to challenge Bethesda. Oblivion is BY FAR the funner game. Giving the rpg player that what they most desire FREEDOM.
The areas are pretty small. I had to do some backtracking fairly often to sell loot. Boring but optional.Getting around is horrible and slow
I've played both and Dragon Age is better than either of them.Really anyone that has played Elder Scroll Iv or even Morrowind would agree that this game failed.
I respect your view too, although I don't believe you can form a good opinion based on 20 minutes of playing, if you really played that little.Im not trying to be smart or anything. Honestly dissapointed with the game. I know however many people do like it and i respect their views. This is just my PERSONAL opion

I think this game is awesome, but I think the problem you said could be solved if this game at least gave us the chance to play it in co-op, so our friends would control these characters. That would be awesome!
