In Dragon Age, I can be peppered by arrows, set on fire and impaled by giant blades AND STILL continue to fight.
Point is, I wouldn't get hung up on what type of armour everyone is wearing. Everyone in Dragon Age has redundant organs, 597 pints of blood in their veins and skin as tough as boiled leather. If someone's outfit favours form over functionality, I couldn't give two s**ts, provided it looks good.

Armor has to be "functional" in real life because a single arrow or swordblow can kill you, or at the very least injure you to the extent that you're incapable of fighting. And no one in real life has to worry about monsters or magic.

For the most part I would say they've done a good job keeping the oversexed, juvenile designs out of Dragon Age. Isabela is toeing the line IMO, but at least female Wardens and female Hawkes didn't have the options of chainmail bikini, tattered dress, or metal bits covering nothing but the nipples and bajingo.
Isabela made sense. She was a pirate and a ****, I don't think she would wear knightly plate armor.
Edit: I like how my five-letter word got changed into FOUR "*"

Why is it that any time anyone brings up Isabela having no pants people always go straight to "What, she should be wearing heavy plate?" You know, there is quite a lot in between.

A silly, nonsensical argument is the only that's needed?

Besides, I enjoy very distinguised looks on my companions that represent their personality. Iconic looks is the way to go. DA3 sounds like the best of both worlds. Customizaion AND iconic. Heck yes.
I do agree though, please give mages actual armor. If they're going to be sitting on the line, it's reasonable to believe they'll wear at least light armor. Also, more reason to allow us more proficiency like DA:O. I could wear heavy armor on my mage. Any excuse to get rid of the dunce caps and dresses/robes please...
I want to look badass as a mage. Not a mage who looks like he's about to go to a recital.

Arguing extremes is always silly. If I said "Drinking too much coffee can be bad for you" and you responded by saying "What, so no one can ever drink again?!" that would be silly. It's arguing the extreme and it's childish.

Yeah, that's a bit...sexist. Anders was as much a ***** in Awakening but no one lobbed such insults his way.

True. But I would argue that that's rarely the case. Things like Tera, for instance...

So isy's clothes don't really seem to be that off from IRL
Most of the armor in Da2 was fine. the only one that may not have been was the chapions armor. thats it. And do you really expect mages to wear heavy armor?? have any of you even tried a suit of armor?? yes you have some flexablity but it has limits. and is some armors it would lock up if you move a certien way.
So IMO get off this "proper armor" crap. why doesn't BW just make magic tanks everyone rolls around in, then people would complain they are in tanks.

you know... i think people need to get there heads out of there behinds. Look at ANY pirate ship, they didn't wear heavy metal suits. and if the women thought they would get raped they would have more than likely have worn what Isabella did. And from what I understand the female ship captain/s (i think there where 3, but 2 where a lez or bi, and on the same ship) they wore some open stuff at the time.

Yes. If they sacrifice certain proficiency in magic and train harder towards combat armor, why not? Nothing in the lore prevents mages from wearing heavy armor and in DAO you could make Arcane Warriors...

I would think that "total war" would mean that anyone who wanted or had to take up arms would make do with whatever he/she could acquire. Not everyone, even the heroes, may have access to armories, to vast resources of sturdy arms and equipment, or the coin necessary to craft sturdy armor for entire armies and large groups of citizen-soldiers, so you would just have to grab what you can and step into the fray.Lokiwithrope wrote...
I hope to God that DA3 has actual armor. No sexualized armor that exposes skin; I want actual, functional suits of chain and platemail that actually block attacks. Total war means everyone should have better armor, even the mages who at the least should have hardplates.
