I?m kinda in a hurry, so i can't read it through. I can ask a question though. What combos/explosions can you do on your own with this build?
You should be able to set off all 3 tech explosions without any ammo consumables - tech bursts can be set up with energy drain (though I believe the window of detonation is pretty short, which is why it's so rare), cryo with snap freeze, and fire with both incinerate and fire shield (you might be able to do cryo with cryo shield as well, but I've never seen this happen, probably because I just bash them again if they're still alive
I think the reason we see tech bursts go off so rarely with this guy is because energy drain has such a short detonation window, or because of the bug where snap freeze makes them detonate around the paladin instead of the enemy. Unless you're really, really in their faces (as in about to die surrounded) then you're probably just not hitting anything with your bursts.
ETA: Looks like both shield evos are primers but not detonators.

huh, good to know.
tech is easy to do with disruptor ammo, just ED them when you see them visably stunned with blue lighting on them.

I'm tired of being killed *just* as I am casting ED. So, just three points. Enough to stagger organics, synthetics, and make my shield recharge faster. But no more.
Chooshing the shield effect is so hard for me. I love the freezing effect, but do Phantoms really freeze when you hit them? I thought they could only be completely frozen when *they* did their melee attack on your deployed shield (which is a suicidal tactic, and guaranteed death if there's more than one)
Right now I have a fire shield. I'm tired of meleeing troopers only to see them fly across the room, and get up with a bar of health. The fire damage will take care of that.

Armor boost on energy drain doesn't work on PC, I believe...
So sad.
No, it works. It only works when you drain shields/barriers or synthetic targets, which makes it a lot less effective against Cerberus and Reaper forces.

Since the patch is coming out, which includes the cyro-incinerate evolution fix, would it not be wise to maybe just put three ranks into energy drain? I mean, theortically, we are really suppose to get a massive damage boost if that fix works indeed. Not that to diminsh your build OP, just something to think about.
Well aware! Simply cannot wait to try out my Quarian Female Engineer again.
I prefer maxxed out Energy Drain for the shield damage, drain, and armor boost---the sheer survivability is incredible, especially since the way I play is very agressive and melee oriented!
That said there is no wrong way to play any class, despite some might tell you, as long as you are having fun. My build is not the end all be all of builds, it's simply sharing my experience as to what works for me!
@Kipac: Rest assured, it certainly works, I notice a considerable difference when armor boost is up.

If I'm using my Demolisher, I'll just set the mofos up for tech bursts. :3 The Snap Freeze is really useful lol.

I don't know about Rudest, but I'm planning on leaving my Paladin as a 60666. Incinerate will be great on my engineers, but on my Paladin I want to get super uptight and close - I play him because I want to shield bash and only because I want to shield bash
But I definitely plan to pull out my HE once incinerate gets fixed, and I'm desperate to get me a QE (I have both infiltrators, and neither engineer).
ETA: I have really good internet, so I don't care about the lag issues with ED, and using it before charging in instead of after your shields are down works fine either way.

lol...the Paladin has been out for how long now and you just came up with this build? A simple forum search would've netted you this build months ago.
Nice graphics by the way.
Funny thing that! I always had an interest in playing him. Lots of little things to think about. I eventually got side tracked and left the class relatively untouched for the longest time!
Then there is well. ... Throwing this together to burn some time between now and the patch tomorrow hehe.
Thanks for the compliment!

But no.
Cyro shield is just better.

The frost shield, is over all, probably much more reliable and can stack another debuff. But, for my style of play, the flame shield is for me!

With the changes to tech explosions in the patch and DLC, what have some of you Paladin enthusiasts found to be effective?

Apply light melee, instantly snap freeze for fire explosion.
If enemy is synthetic or shielded you can the cast ED for an immediate cryo explosion. (This is the first time I've seen a detonating ability prime for the next detonation without recast and it's awesome.)

I would do this if fire explosions worked normally on the Paladin. For now I'm good with Cryo shield (even though the debuff is broken). Good guide though.
What's wrong with Fire Explosions on the Paladin? I've had no issues setting off Explosions with shield bash -> Snap Freeze.

I use the pretty much the same build, though I've specced 3 points into Incinerate, for laughs mainly.

(I haven't' been playing him much in the advent of the new classes, but I will devote some more time to him soon, he's still a favorite!

Would you guys like me to make another guide? I've been thinking about making another one but I'm not really sure which class I'd do.
