Can a fire shield bash set off a cryo explosion if you have snap frozen critters? With my last build I didn't take anything in ED at all and maxed out everything else. I just spam freeze like there is no tommorrow and then incinerate to set of explosion.
I'll test it out and see, give me a few minutes!
Tested: It doesn't seem to work that way! If you intend on making Cyroblasts I theorize that cryoshield will interact with incinerate or energy drain much like fire shield interacts with cyro; shield bash and then drain in this case!

Great guide. You should put in sample builds too; one of the issues I have with the class is deciding what to actually take and ignore.
Thank you! And that's a problem I've had too, I didnt get into this class until a few weeks ago because I didn't know exactly how I'd like to play him. There are alot of small nuances to consider about the shield and power selection are hard to caption in text.
However, after playing around I did find the build listed to be what caters to my playstyle best! It's built around a balance of debuffing, damage, meleeing, survivability and damage! He does all of these things, and does them suprisingly well!
The new changes to tech explosions and incenerate beg for the power ot be used and implmented in an alternate build and I might touch on that in the future!

Nope. Shield bashes prime but don't detonate. If I am aiming for an explosion I bash first, snapfreeze later.

Thanks for that. I can do that. I have been snap freezign and incienrating, that works well but would like to use the shield to set up or exolode things. Priming with shield is fine.

I've played some Paladin before with moderate success, never really got the flow down. Now I'm gonna try this build out. Thanks for the guide! Will let you know how it goes.
Sweet! Hope it works out for you!

I have never used any of the fire skills though. I go all ice and melee.

I have my Paladin almost spec'd the same way, except I skipped rank 6 on his passive and went for Incinerate for utility.
I prefer to put Cyro Ammo on him, since, after all, I gotta live up to my name! (ArchDuke Frosty on the 360)

"A Guide of Ice and Fire: The N7 Paladin"
Make it happen.
Also, I personally think the optimal Paladin build MUST have incinerate; ED does not detonate any techsplosions vs. health or armor, but Incinerate / Snap Freeze are amazing together.
They both prime each other after detonating, so you can chain fire explosion -> cryo explosion -> fire explosion -> cryo explosion all day long.
And would better justify your title!

I'm not much for reading essays but that image is freaking nice. Did you draw/design that?

The Paladin image itself is of course Bioware's, but the backround I painted in photoshop, and then applied various filters, gradients, and what have you! Thanks everyone who complimented on my image! I am sort of self taught, it's more a recreational thing than anything else lol. Thanks for the compliments on my artwork everyone!
Thanks Graal and others who complimented on the guide.
I don't have any others up yet, but i'd willing to make another one! Suggestions on what I should cover next are welcome!

Great guide, but missing one critical component: the proper title.

Yeah the changes to incerinate and tech/fire/cyro explosion combos in general have really breathed some life into incenerate as a power. I still like this build for the versatility it offers, but I am working on peicing together an explosion focused build to post as an alternative!

Either way, loved your write up and the image as other have said. I like guides and this is one of the more memorable ones on the forums.
