Can someone be more specific about companion interactions with the protagonist?
I just recently started playing DA;O along side DA2, and I'm realising very quickly that I prefer DA;O's dialogue system LIGHT-YEARS ahead of DA2's. Not necessarily the dialogue wheel, but just talking to your companions.
One of my biggest iffy factors of DA2 was that, by the sound of it, Hawke only has about maybe 3 or 4 conversations with their companions every 3 years. Only JUST finding out details of their lives during this time. It was idiotic at best.
In DA;O, I could ask my companions about whatever I wanted, when I wanted. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Sten talk about the Qun, about Alistair's love of cheeses and the Grey Wardens, about Leliana's bardic stories or about Wynne's time in the Circle. These aspects, however small, made me fall in love with these characters. I ALWAYS go through them in every playthrough, I'd really prefer to see this or something similar to this, come back in DA3.
^ this!!!
That was the reason DA 2 companions bothered the heck out of me. And I didn't feel the connection between Hawke and his / her crew, or even LI at all. It's ridiculous. I hope they bring back DA:O style :/

It means that yes, we're probably going to be able to kiss/hug/slap? our companions whenever we want, as well as having less "story arc" conveyed through dialogue and more through personal quests, thus leaving room in the camp (or castle?) for minor chit-chats like those we had with Morrigan, Zev and the rest of the gang in DAO.
I'm actually very interested to see how they're going to arrange that kind of dialogue on the wheel while still maintaining the "left=investigate/right=push the conversation forward" thing. They're going to need a hub section.
Now see, that makes me curious as well. Dialogue wheel is confirmed as far as I remember, but that system is hardly good for the kind of indepth conversations Origins had. Plus... are we still going to be limited to three personalities/responces to every one they make? DA;O was... more varied in the sense of responces.

Dunno, I thought they could come up with something like the choice wheel in DAII (the one with the three arrows) and for each topic you choose you kind of initiate a new in depth discussion with a dialogue wheel (the one with tones and such).
The dialogue system was somethjing that bugged me quite a lot in DAII, so I'm waiting to hear about the changes more than anything else.

Dev went over this multiple time. DA2 dialog wheel have more options possible (6) than DA:O does (the list max at 5). There's not difference how the two were used beside that (and paraphrasing).

Maximum number of options was 6 in DAO.

It's looking to be the same garbage as DA2. Forced to be human....again. I guess i'll be writing this game off, or waiting for it to hit the bargain bin like I did with 2.
So you'll be writing this game off just because you can't be an elf or a dwarf? Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Small correction, the maximum on the list was 6, the maximum on the wheel is 10. Certain situations in DA2 could not happen in DAO, such as this dialogue with Tallis.azarhal wrote...

Technically DA:O could have "investigation" too (dunnot if the game did though, well I don't remember). Also, I remember reading DA:O only had 5 options, but I don't remember which BSN thread. Or maybe what I read that is most dialog only had 5 options anyway (despite supporting 6).
Oh and you could have all the left side choices (all 3) lead to sub-choices, investigate doesn't have to be the only drill down options on the wheel. I don't know if that code supported it though.

It's called character creation...which is an important aspect to any RPG, and they've taken that away.

Not necessarily, there are some good rpgs out there that dont allow character creation at all.
Small correction, the maximum on the list was 6, the maximum on the wheel is 10. Certain situations in DA2 could not happen in DAO, such as this dialogue with Tallis.
That makes 8. Well, its 4 for me since investigate isnt relevant most of the times.
Id settle for 6 answers that only reflect two statements, if given the possibility to say it the way i know my character would. One can only hope...
P.S.: Many thanks for the infos!

DA:O had questions, but they weren't labelled, so it was totally random whether a question you picked actually was an investigate option or just all of a sudden moved the conversation along and locked out your previous questions. It was terribly designed.

I also hope that all the "romance-able" character will not be bi, but hopefully it'll be more like DAO with some bi characters and some straight only characters to choose from.
