Tried to get a crew together (Kefka_Telsar, AK_Rw, soozers14) on the PS3 over the weekend, but we absolutely could not get in a room at the same time. Took me three tries to get in AK's room, while Kefka couldn't get in at all. Kefka then created a room; neither soozers nor AK could get in. After about 30 minutes of trying, we agreed to just play separately.

As for kicking, the only reason I've ever voted to kick someone is if the room is full, three of us are ready, and the fourth is just sitting there doing nothing with no explanation. The new mission countdown (20 seconds if three are ready) is a very welcome feature. (OK, there was that one time when the annoying 10 year old was screaming at everyone in the room for kill-stealing anything that happened to be on his screen at the time it died, including the Banshee that was in the middle of insta-killing him. Yeah, I voted to kick him as soon as the mission was over...)
