So I've never really posted here before, and this may be a stupid question, but this is an issue that has been bugging me and I've found it surpisingly difficult to find an answer. With ME1 coming to the PS3, I'm wondering if there are gonna be problems with imports into ME2? Does ME2 for the PS3 actually include the capacity to import from ME1 or was that not included as a result of ME1 not existing on the PS3? Also, if I buy ME1 on the PSN, will it be identical to the one you get with the trilogy, or will the trilogy include the capacity to import due to a different ME2, whilst the PSN version doesn't?

Think I saw that existing copies of ME2 will be patched so there can be a 1>2>3 import process. I imagine the disc sets will work that way out of the box.

Nope. No kit gets imported. The gear in ME1 is incompatible with the combat system in ME2. So are some of the biotic and tech abilities for that matter. What you're importing are the character, their sex, their personal and military records, and a list of decisions they made in the first game. You're not really even importing what class your Shepard is as that and their features can be changed at the start of ME2. What you're really importing is, to use a cliche, "the story so far". So an imported game plays quite differently but can refer to something you did or said in ME1 fairly often.

No idea, but it'd be an odd business decision to ignore a market of half a billion people in industrialised nations, especially since it apparently is going to come to Australia and it's a much much smaller market here. Speculating here but maybe it's because EA figure they'd have to charge a fair price in Europe close to the US price while they can get away with charging about 50% more here.

Yeah I was sorta expecting that they'd just patch ME2, but you never know, it wouldn't be the first time we got cheated out of something that is just plain logical *cough* Skyrim anyone? *cough*. And surely if you're not getting the trilogy you'll still be able to buy the PSN version, so it won't matter anyway?

Might as well get the US version because I will, But there will be no DLC that goes with the trilogy news from gamefront: www.gamefront.com/surprise-the-mass-effect-trilogy-wont-include-all-dlc/.

Not quite "no DLC", even according to that article.

The Trilogy box set will[/i]include the Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station DLC packs for the original Mass Effect, the Cerberus Network content for Mass Effect 2, and the Online Pass for Mass Effect 3.

In other words the free DLC is all there, the premium DLC is all missing. Given the price point of the box set I don't think this is all that surprsing. All that's really surprising is that they didn't leave it a year or so until all the DLC for 3 is out and then sell an Everything Included Ultimate Edition Trilogy for maybe double that instead.

Remember also that the DLC is tied to an account so AIUI you'd only be paying again if you're changing platforms. If I decided to buy a set so I had the physical discs for PC I wouldn't need to rebuy Kasumi, Shadow Broker, Overlord etc because they're tied to my BioWare a/c. I may be wrong but believe the same applies to XBox and I'd expect it to apply to PS3 as well. Bring Down the Sky is free anyway so all that would then leave is ME1's Pinnacles Station for new PS3 players, which is firstly not a huge expense and secondly (for a lot of people) not especially worth getting anyway.

I'm hoping the PS3 version of ME 2 and ME 3 will get a major patch so we can import the ME1 save when ME1 come out for PS3.
