A fade to black is fine, there is no need for pixel nudity.

I've seen that sentiment expressed before. In that case, the player held the opinion that who someone was as a person was immutable, so if they'd ever been capable of the things Revan did, then the PC must also be capable of those things. That player found Torment similarly limiting.
I found KotOR2 limiting, because the PC should have known about his past (but the player didn't - Atris accusing the Exile of wrongdoing would have been a far better scene if the player had had any idea what she was talking about), but any game where the PC's personality is entirely mine to shape as I see fit is very nearly the perfect game.
I'm not very well..."read" when it comes to RPGs--the Bioware ones are pretty much the only ones I've played (ouside of TES games and FF games, which in all honestly don't really fit all that well under the RPG label in my eyes) so I don't really know anything about Planetscape: Torment and KotOR 2. Hopefellu I'll find out one day.
Anyway, I guess it comes down to personal priorities--little surprise there I suppose.

but yeah, it was ok...but with the new engine etc. they should strive to do loads better and they can (i am sure not all of the people working at bioware are prudes (sorry, some people here are so old fashioned in their views...hell, i would like to know who has been teaching you views as outdated as that?...sorry if i am really progressiv in this, it's just that i live in europe and europeans are mostly non prudes because we threw that stuff out years ago (student movements of 1968 and such!)...and i am really glad i never got tought such views...)

Not showing anything is a bad idea because it cuts the immersion.
And explicit sex would be a little weird (like witcher 2)...
Like many comments above, the important thing is that the developers treat sex with maturity.

I can take or leave love scenes but if you're going to have them, at least do them properly. I think ME1 got them pretty much spot on, sadly, Bioware have been regressing ever since in their ability to create a decent love scene.

It's basically all EA's fault?

I understand why you hate clothes, but every sex starts with clothes on, right? And I think the "shower" in ME3 is simple. She is showering in Shepard's room, so she can keep her underwear, because she is feeling nervous and Shepard then came to her with full clothes on... what's so strange about it? Later Shepard will undress, but that is their privacy.
I simply love their games.

For example, I'd expect a mind-meld type sexual experience with an Asari such as Liara to be tasteful, smooth and classy. Or with a virginial type such as Merril to be the same.
However, I'd expect to rag Jack & Isabella seven ways from sunday and actually think that Bioware would be doing them a dis-service if it were any different. Spanking, face-spitting, whips, chains etc. - it would fit with the right character
Or they could play it the other way where the quite ones are the worse, and the likes of Jack need a bit of love.
Either way, "tasteful" should be based on the character and not a blanketed requirement for every romance in the game.

Sometimes you have to wonder why some think it is more psychologically scarring to see a sideboob, than to see a person horribly murdered, raised as a zombie, and then proceed to eat his former comrades....
It's the americans (and similar people i would call prudes!) IMHO - they subscribe to zombies (catholic church or similar) but not to sex (church does not either - except for reproductive purposes (and not for its' "own" people like priests, monks, nuns etc.))
it is so bad to repress/restrict something so natural, it just makes me sad!

I don't care if sex scenes are graphic, but I really, really do not want them delving into specific fetishes. I don't find any of this stuff even remotely sexy, I find spitting to be particularly disgusting in any context. Such a scene would forever turn me off playing that game ever again.

I'm not saying spitting specifically, I just mean that Bioware shouldn't feel restricted to doing either tasteless or non-tasteless scenes. For me the scenes should fit the character and I think the game would be more interesting as a whole, and more believeable, if characters such as Isabella (who have obviously been around a bit, in both terms of the world and sexual partners) weren't then portrayed as innocent virgins in "tasteful" the love scenes, as it makes no sense against the backdrop of their backstory.
A female pirate captain who spends months away with a crew full of men, who has a reputation as a bag, and who also sleeps with women too suddenly layed down in front of a log fire and "made love" to beautifully? It's just not in keeping with the character and would water the game down IMO.
There can be romantic love scenes for those looking for love with a soft, tender dear such as Merrill, however, there should be more graphic "disgusting" sex for those who are looking for that too. It doesn't have to be extreme, sick or OTT, it should however show/imply enough to be in keeping with the character.

That is why I prefer da2's approac to the others. Isabella litteraly jumps Hawke, and then there is the knife 'undressing', Fenris is is little more wild and I think it was suppossed to be spur of the moment. Anders and Merrill are romantic and tender, all fitting with their personalities.
I don't mind they fade to black during the moments which are difficult to animate. I will rather not see it if it is going to be as akward and weird as da:o.
