If I may ask the Devs, what can we look forward to the score of Dragon Age III, and who will be the lead composer?
Personally, I hope Inon Zur makes a comeback, I loved his score for Origins. DA2 didn't feel right to me. If not Inon, then bring in Ramin Djawadi, that guy is absolutely amazing with his composition.

I'm not a huge fan of Inon Zur tbh. His music is fine and works good enough for the DA games, but I think Bioware could do much better.

Mass Effect has some amazing music. Even without Jack Wall in ME3, they still nailed it. A lot of the tracks are recycled though. The new ones are still good. I actually think Clint Mansell's contribution on ME3 is the worst tracks(not that they're bad at all). Just high praise for the other guys. Clint is more than established in Hollywood but I didn't feel his music fits the ME universe.

I hold Bioware soundtracks to high standards.

I loved DA2 soundtrack so much, and also the guy who did the Mark Of The Assassin music nailed it, possibly one of Biowares best OST. So the same level of quality!

I think Inon has some good tracks between the two games but overall, I feel he's lacking. It's kinda surprising because going into DAO, I use to think Inon was a great composer. I remember his music on games like Icewind Dale. Seems he lost a little of his touch these days to me...

Inon Zur's DA soundtracks are a tad odd to me. They set the tone as they should, but it's rare I remember a melody to hum when the game is turned off. Fenris' theme comes to mind, the Hawke family theme, what seems to be the main theme of Origins and Leliana's Song are more or less the only ones I even remember strongly off the top of my head.

Perhaps this is actually working as intended, I wouldn't know. But I'd prefer more melodic music, since melodies are what I like best.

I hope there is a soundtrack like in Origins, with touching pieces like Leliana's song.
DA2's OST was except of the mansion and main theme forgettable.

Best would be, if they hire Jeremy Soule. His compositions are always epic. But I think that will never happen.

I'd love a more Dramatic / Emotional soundtrack like ME3 did.

Yep - The Dragon Age soundtracks just aren't melodic enough. Melody is key for a good soundtrack. We need a well thought out emotional soundtrack like ME3 was.

Bioware needs to not rush DA3 and make sure Inon Zur or whoever the composer DA3 is, has enough time to make the soundtrack work.

The DA3 soundtrack will be a mixture of the audio landscape similar to Portal 2's soundtrack. Portions of specific soundtrack layers will play when you activate certain objects and stand near others. Together if one could manage to play it all together (which they cannot), they make the soundscape.

No. Not really.

I have to say I liked the DA:O soundtrack a lot more than the DA 2 one. DA 2 music was just so...forgettable. The only music I can remember is the one that is played in the Hanged Man. Which just goes to show how much time I spent there.

If we got something like ME 3...that would be awesome. I mean, listening to the ME 3 soundtrack makes me cry like a little girl because it's just so damn emotional. (How could I not with titles like 'I Was Lost Without You' or 'I Am Proud Of You'?)
Granted, the whole crying bit makes it hard to listen to, but goddammit, that stuff is epic.

DAO was good, it had some stand-out tracks, DA2 was serviceable, but still impressive considering the time constraints Inon was under.

I wouldn't mind if Inon returned for DA3. His music tends to sound a little too over produced, and as was mentioned, lacks melody. But I think if the bar were raised in the music department, perhaps with a bigger budget, more time, better direction, he could create something really special. He is very talented.

That's funny you mention that because I feel the same way. It's one reason his soundtracks don't sound that great anymore.

Like I said, some of his older music was EXCELLENT. Here is a sample from Icewind Dale: www.youtube.com/watch

I like Inon Zur, but I agree it sounded rushed for DA2. Personally, my ideal composer would be Christopher Tin.

Also, if Jeremy Soule composed for DA3, I would die of happiness, then return from the grave to play the game.

I wonder what the professional relationship is like between Inon Zur and Bioware. He had some relatively critical comments about the conditions they expected him to work under for the last game. Usually professionals don't air their dirty laundry publicly like he did. I'd guess it was a fair bit worse than he actually let on, with his comments about working in the dark as to how each piece was supposed to fit the game, and the rushed deadlines.

We can expect a credits theme from a pretty decent, mildly popular band.

Walk the Moon, maybe.

Inon Zur does just fine. I'm not expecting grammy or oscar material here; just good/solid fantasy music.

Inon Zur said that he was rushed for the DA2 soundtrack, so cut him some slack there.

I am happy with the work Inon Zur has done for the series so far, really love some of the tracks from both games. That said I wouldn't be adverse to another composer coming in, it might be interesting to see a different approach.

Just so long as it is given the care and attention it deserves, the audio in general is so important for a game like this.

Inon Zur has been great for the series. DAO had a fantastic score, it took some time for me to warm up to it, I felt it was an acquired taste, but I love it now.

DA2 was rushed, he said it. However, I still feel there were a couple of stand out tracks, mainly Fenris's theme and the Hawke Family Theme (can't believe I'm saying anything is good about DA2)

Keep Inon.
