It's been a few months since I last played ME3 MP (from a while before the release of Earth DLC), and I gotta tell you, when I'm playing against Cerberus, the sounds those swords make whenever Slayers and Shadows whip them out make me nervous. Whenever I hear that sound in a Cerberus game, I fully expect to be blindsided by a Phantom I didn't see coming.

Those two classes also don't seem all that powerful to me, but maybe that's because I'm staying on Silver for now with a Novaguard. Everything is weak compared to a Novaguard on Silver.

What do you think?

Nah, I still prefer trolling the sniper during a Cerberus match by doing the "light" melee while he's no-doubt busy scoping, looking for that last enemy that hasn't been marked yet.

Works almost EVERY time. *wheeeeeeen* *turns & quick fires* "Dude, same team, same team. There was a bug on your shoulder."

Even better if you colour your Shadow white.
(And I know that sounds funny out of context.)

Especially since I have a good headset, I always jump a bit whenever I hear that. I have trained myself to get used to hearing it when a shadow/slayer is in the lobby though.

I think they should alter the sword sounds of our allies a bit so we can easily tell who is swinging thier sword. At the moment it even sh*ts me up a bit when playing reapers 'till I remember reapers don't have phantoms unless you play plat.

Since this topic is vaguely related to Phantoms, does anyone happen to know the force threshold for staggering Phantoms on Gold and Platinum? Right now, charging makes me slam into an enemy with a force of >1000N.

What? Does Platinum mix up enemy types or something? Because that sounds horrible.

Shadow and the Slayer are definitely not weak characters. I'd pick either of them over the novaguard any day of the week. More fun to play, better survivability, and more versatile overall. I also think they have more synergy with other characters as well.

And thats why I think they should disable melee, biotics and casting while any player is shooting or aiming.

Tis all good fun and fairness...

Kinda like an admin constantly pausing unpausing a server randomly.

Better survivability is debatable. One time I had a Slayer on the team, he died more times than I could count while I didn't die once. The Novaguard also has more synergy than you might think, people just have to learn how to be a team player. Asari Adept (especially offensive bubble Justicar) + Novaguard = biotic explosion train.

More fun to play... well, I'm not going to debate that, obviously.

Shadow is hilariously overpowered for silver and so slayer, those 2 classes can dominate anything faster than a novaguard can.

I also forgot to mention that the only people I've seen play Slayers and Shadows thus far are randoms, so maybe that's why I have a skewed view...

yes, in plat you get all 3 enemy races mixed in especially in the later waves, but its kinda funny having atlas phantoms primes pyro's banshee's ravagers maruders centurians brutes and well pretty much everything all at once on your ass especially since in plat the rockets dont even kill all the mobs in the line (half the time they friggin miss even when aimed at there feet)

Well OP, if you're on silver, shadows and slayers don't have to make you nervous till wave 7.

Someone with Geth Plasma Shotgun or Talon can distract me more than space ninja with space sword attack.

Hope the Legion won't mind carrying me when I play Platinum for the first time. =D

Although, it probably won't be so bad if I whip out my Novaguard, which is very likely.

You know, same for infiltrators. I hate that cloak sound.

The shadows are good thanks to the patch the n7 sword mastery rank 5 martial artists and rank 6 shield/barriers or armour damage now affect shadow strike so with all the power amp III and cloak bonuses and hydraulic joints, strength enhancers and weapon melee mods its possible to leave a ravager on gold with only 2 armour bars left in a single shadow strike with the TC.

Probably end one hit killing a ravager or a brute with this whole shadow strike and all the melee bonuses with the TC.

Its proven to be good at wrecking reapers even the banshees when all their barriers are gone haven't tried it much against the other factions though

Well, I hate it when an Infiltrator team mate activates Tactical Cloak next to me in a Geth match. I always think a Hunter has snuck up on me.

I suppose it all depends on the player. You get bad players, yes, turn and run for the hills/Vanguard glitch out. But if there's good players, then you'll have biotic explosions/ tech bursts all day long. I hope I'm the latter.

If you host with a Slayer using PD, you can take out anything, set of Tech Bursts and biotic explosions (with biotic slash), have infinite shields, have a strong melee and phase through walls. How does that not have more synergy than a novaguard? Just being able to phase through walls to go from point to point on a map makes the slayer tons more useful in my opinion. Add that you can use PD to stun and stagger enemies from across the map as well, and use biotic slash through walls.... I suppose I'd pick Shockwave over Biotic Slash though, since it can be thrown in any direction.

One evolution path of Nova allows you to reduce the cooldown of other powers by 25% for 15 seconds, and I hear it stacks (I, myself, always take Half-Blast instead, but I remember reading about that in a Novaguard guide). Combine that with 200% cooldown, and Novaguards, too, can have practically infinite shields. Adding the art of nova-canceling to that can make the Novaguard very powerful in the right hands.

You also can't forget that both Charge and Nova can set off biotic explosions and tech bursts.

Though being able to stun enemies across the map does sound useful.
