Ok, so I was browsing through the forums and wikipedia for some information of Dragon Age:Origins and Dragon age II’s development and marketing cycle from announcement to launch… And I thought, ‘hey, why don’t we all try to guess when things will be revealed about Dragon Age 3: Inquisition.’

So what do you guys think? Based on what we know from back when DA:O and DA2 was released, when do you think we will be seeing some of these things. When and how do you think Bioware and EA will market them, and what do you think they will keep secret up until the game actually launches? Post whatever dates you believe to be accurate or good estimations.

First trailer?

Protagonist reveal?

Major antagonist reveal?

Companion(s) reveal?

Love interest reveal?

Combat-mechanics reveal?

Over-arching story reveal?

Locations reveal?

Length of game?

If you have any other dates for ideas and things that Bioware could reveal and market, post them as well. Let the speculation begin!

The main thing that Bioware will try to push across is that DA3 will be the best of both games, (even though DA2 was meant to of taken all the best bits of Origins and anything not taken was rubbish).

Also if it is anything like the DA2 marketing they will find a way to criticize Origins in every interview.

Well, DA2 was set in the same world, and had nothing else to do with Origins, so I fail to see how the above statement is wrong.

I was hoping that this thread would be more about estimating dates and guessing when certain things will be revealed to the fans, and not so much about what Bioware will try to accomplish with their marketing.

But hey, it's a free discussion.

If they bash DA2 in the interviews, the general internet populace will be happy, I think.

I expect another over hyped CGI trailer.

Something in the new year, I think. I'd expect a plot overview, protagonist reveal and general 'this is the kind of story we're wanting to tell here' video (with gameplay) and accompanying interview with Mark/Mike/David. It's their big chance to woo people with shiny DA3 gameplay, and I think it'll be worth it.

I don't think we'll see a teaser trailer by itself (unless they did something at the Spike VGAs?), the pre-marketing marketing has all been about showing, not telling, and using actual game content instead of overhyped CGI that easily gives false impressions. Ditto for vague promises that don't actually turn out like that in-game - that sort of ultimately disappointing hyperbole sunk ME3 for many people.

Let's pluck a date out of the air and say January 26, 2013 for the big reveal.

I don't think we'll get much info on companions until early-to-mid next year, ditto with the locations. Since the antagonist seems to be a bit part of the overarching story, I don't think we'll find out much about it at all before release.

That sounds terribly inaccurate. Only 4 companions? And only one is male? And only one is romanceable and she's female? Yeah, unlikely.

Unless you're just saying what you hope it will be... I'm unsure if you're predicting or wishing...

am sure there will more companions ,I would suspect a few will be unknown to us until something is revealed
and yes I only put one LI for the same reason I made for companions

pff. I wrote out a huge answer and it posted, then went back to edit it and it became effed up. Nice waste of my time.

^ Feel free to try to write it again. I know that at least I would read it with great enthusiasm. :)

I have a feeling that whoever brings up the fact Origins was better than DA: 2 gets crucified to the Kirkwall logo.

Release date speculation threads are inappropriate here. BioWare will announce things when they are announced.

End of line.
