So... I always play Silver without any consumable, and Gold with consumable lvl II or III (sometimes ammo lvl I with a power based class).
And... Gold is all the same a little more difficult. And i never understood why. Because bosses like brutes, banshees, atlas, are in fact the easiest enemies, because we build, equip, and l2p, especially for them.
PS : Not talking about wich is better or funnier or blablabla, i really like gold and i really like silver.
And sorry for the title, i wasn't inspired.
Bonus question : Is the new disruptor ammo a good choice instead of others now ?
