I haven't played ME2 for a very long time, but the last time I did play it, it was running fine on my system.

Between then and now a couple of things have changed. I added a 2nd GTX460 (yes, SLI now), upgraded my CPU from an AMD X3 to an X6 1090T and dropped the ME2 key to the Origin loader (for cloud saving purposes).

Today I thought to see how & what with my ME2 and I can't seem to get it started properly. All I get is a black screen and a sound that's quite choppy (not any of the loading screen sounds though). I've changed my settings and tried a lot of them (even changed to windowed and 4:3 instead of 16:9) but nothing seems to be helping at all. ME2 just won't run on my system :( I even tried to remove and reinstall ME2, but that doesn't change a thing.

Now the 'funny thing' is that DA:O (with all DLC's and ME1 (with that only 1 DLC) are running fine on my system.

System specs:
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition ~3.2Ghz
Memory: Corsair 2x2Gb 800Mhz :: OCZ 2x2Gb 800Mhz
Video Card: EVGA GTX460 SC 768Mb :: ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU TOP/2DI/768MD5
Monitor: iiyama ProLite E2208HDS
Sound Card: Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion
Keyboard: Logitech G11
Mouse: Logitech MX518
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Motherboard: Asus M4N72-E

Any help/solution would be nice!

Try different graphics drivers, particularly older ones dating to the time when ME-2 last was running successfully for you. Second, never try comparing unlike game engines. You can only compare ME-2 with other UT3 engine games, such as ME-3.

Hmm... Think the latest nVidia 306 drivers are the one killing it for me?If so, than it sucks a lot. Guild Wars 2 does need them to run properly... Oh well, lets try the latest beta and see what happens. GW2 did run pretty well on that one too...

About engine... Thought DA:O was using the same engine? Also, any other game I play runs just fine, even those using Unreal 3 engines (not sure if UT3 is that much different from U3).

Will be back later with the results on the drivers!

Not the driver for sure. After I installed the latest beta driver, the problem was still there. Then it hit me that if the sound was bugged too, it can never be a display driver. System reboot and hey... ME2 is running normally again...

I guess it was something that was still hanging in memory from an other game (probably either TERA or GW2). I've had this happen before, where Lineage II would not load if I had played either WoW or Lord of the Rings online...

Anyway, thanks for thinking along Just-Me ;)
