It is unfortunate that the title is so incendiary, I agree. And I hate that in the very first post he's trying to compare it to Crysis, because now everyone keeps saying we're stupid because we want it to look like Crysis when we don't. We just see bad textures and find them quite jarring. Anyway, glad to see these issues have gotten the ear of someone closer to the dev's than me, and I'll keep an eye on it as I continue to thoroughly enjoy this wonderful game.

Just another example, the light brown wood vs the very well detailed box with vertical lines right next to it.

The wardrobe.
Exactly! I just posted about this wardrobe one.. how could they let something that will be focused on during a whole conversation look that bad?

It depends one the scenes. In some area's the bland textures and the shoddy lighting/shadows are very apparant and in your face. In other scenes the lighting and ambient details make it actually look quite good.

This I agree with..The Kocari wilds do not look that great...but then you enter the ruins and things loko pretty darn good...

Thats not the infamous wagon or if it is it is at an angle that you can't really tell the problem.
Actually..any wagon is infamous..they all look bad. (the small wagon of the same type)..this one just happens to be hard to see and on its side but still clearly a horrible texture.
I'm about 20 hours into the game and I think now that I have feel for it and such I am goign to start over (for the second time). (Non graphic related)

Are you guys out of your minds???
The graphics in this game are fantastic. What more do you expect? Have you fought the Ogre in the tower yet? THAT is one of the most impressive moments in a video game I have ever seen. I have both Crysis and Crysis warhead. That is a completely different type of game. There is rarely dialogue, and all you do is wander around a sandbox world on a mission. DA:O is a massive RPG full of content.
If you truly have max settings, and 8x AA on, this game is incredibly smooth and very satisfying in the graphics department. It never even once crossed my mind that this game had bad graphics. Just stop whimpering, and pay attention once in a while through some of the areas you travel and you'll realize it doesn't get much better than this. What do you want, A REAL looking world? It's a video game and it looks amazing.
With that said, I did notice when in a few of the cities, the background land and trees looks really really bad.. Like so bad It must either be a glitch, or Bioware seriously forgot to finish some things. Nonetheless, in the cities, during the battles, and most everywhere along the storyline looks absolutely amazing. It's everything I expected.
You also have to realize that games like Crysis, nobody can even enjoy properly because they demand far too much. I have a radeon 4870 and this game runs solid 60FPS with Vsync with max AA. It looks GOooooood!

Aeshyn I agree, the OP didn't make a very decent point but if you read the whoel topic most of us love the game and think much of it looks terrific..we just are aware there are some bad textures in there and for no reason...we would just like devs to know and saysomething will be done..but devs have all but vanished from the topic
Ah, my apologies, the 'next page' and 'previous page' buttons are currently hidden on my browser... I thought you and the post above your last were the only two, ha ha. And the topic title was a bit vague.
I'm sure the Devs will do something about it, this is Bioware after all,

I mean I guess they could have spent 5-6 more months conservatively and spent all of that time just working to make everything in the game to look super pretty. But then the next thing you know you guys will want the fireball spells to leave chard grass behind.

Graphics are fine. If you're really hellbent on getting the best visual quality you can change your AA filter in the catalyst control center to "edge-detect", force 16x AF and maybe turn on adaptive AA.
For nvidia graphics users, go to the NVIDIA control panel,
Manage 3D settings.
Choose daorigins.exe (if it isn't on the list, find your install folder and go into the folder called Bin_Ship. Choose the application called "daorigins.exe" to edit, not the launcher
To up the graphics with my GTX260, i put these settings on in addition to maxing the games' options:
Anisotropic filtering:16x
Antialiasing -Mode: Enhance the application setting
Antialiasing -Setting: 16xQ
Triple buffering : On
Vertical sync: Force on.
I have zero screen tearing and sit at 60 frames still. Also, it looks better now than the game's paltry 8x only setting.
Good luck!
Thanks for this tip! My upcoming new pc has this card.

Am i the only one, who thinks cryis graphics are horrible? and warhead is the same. grey, dull and no visual greantess at all.
This Crysis completely lack ANY visual greatness, I mean photorealism is SOOO overrated, not to mention how grey it is.

I think this Crysis character wants a word with you regarding calling him grey and dull!

This is one ugly beach view is it a real beach or one made in a game?

I am European so I am still waiting for my game to arrive and reading through these threads I honestly don't know what to expect. Some people say it looks great and other people say it sucks. But how does this game stand in terms of graphics against recent "rpgs" like Oblivion, NWN2, The Witcher, Mass Effect, and Fallout 3?
I know Oblivion, Mass Effect and definitely Fallout 3 all look better on pc or Xbox 360. I have also read reviews of this game stating that opinion as well when talking about the graphics. Have not seen NWN2 or The Witcher so I can't say anything there.

How strange to spend so long developing a game with so more hype and then drop the ball on something like graphics.
Its a cop out to say that Bioware want everyone to be able to play the game when many game engines provide the flexibility to play games on both low and high end machines.
I hope its not as much of a let down graphically as I have read :-(

graphics are pretty good here, untill i went into a conversation

as u can see the ramp is kinda blurry par from a small triangle starting with the npc im talking too
Actually I think that is a result of depth of field.
Look at the guy you're talking to, you can clearly see that the "scene" is focused on him making everything else slightly out of focus.
I'm sure that once out of the convo you'd see the ramp in more clear focus.
This doesn't negate the fact of some bad textures that have been spotted really are just low rez.
However anything that you see clearly normally and it changes in convo it is almost 100% a depth of field situation.
Just look at the crysis picture in the middle that I posted, with the guy.
Right click and select view image to see it in a large scale, notice how the background is blurry? That is depth of field.

However, I never got hooked on graphics, sure, great graphics are..well..great...but i'll still pick up retro rpgs for the NES and higher, and still play them straight through
It all comes down to the work put into the game, I have no doubt there was blood sweat and tears put into making this a kickass story driven RPG(I loooove the game so far)
I have no doubt that the team for Crysis put blood sweat and tears into making it a graphical masterpiece --but the story isn't as good and the gameplay isn't as replayable/long

On an only sightly related note, has anyone noticed that the bottles and cups in this game are fricken HUGE? In the inn at the town north of the wilds there is a bottle on the counter half as tall as a man and the cup in the warden ritual is ginormous (It is an ornamental ritual cup though, so that's OK).
