Bad Graphics

So I think we are just stuck with this until someone mods a texture pack..in your case being 360 player..you're just stuck with it..
To the person above who said those complaining are missing the point of the game..no you are missing the point of the complain. Yes the game is AMAZING. The combat, lore, story voices, are all magnificent..but that doesn't excuse the game from containing some of the worst scenery and textures I have ever seen in some areas and then other areas look good. I am going to start taking pics to show people what I am takling about and compile it into a blog.

Graphics terrible? Not even close. This in no way looks 10 years old. You know what looks over a decade old, Baldurs gate 2. Shsss, kids these days.....all spoiled brats *rollseyes*
When these kids pay $60 dollars for the game, they are entitled to their opinion.
Textures look a bit bad in a few places, I'd say slightly worse than oblivions, but the world, the lore, the animations, and the voice acting are superb. hardly noticing bad textures just because I'm pretty wrapped up in the story!
Pretty much my thoughts. I'm running it on PC with a pretty stout system, and regardless of how high I run the graphics, the texture is really poor in various places.
In my opinion, this is what is truly holding this game back from receiving that 10 from most reviewers because the storyline and gameplay have been superb so far. I'm loving the lore and how immersive the world is. Yet, overall, the graphics leave a lot to be desired in this day and age.
In the end, however, I play games more for gameplay and story, and as a result I absolutely love this game so far!

I hate hyperboles, and I hate liars even more. Those who say this game contains some of the 'WORST GRAPHICS EVER' are completely exaggerating. Unless the first and ONLY game you ever played was Crysis, that statement cannot be true at all. If you think for one second Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR, Jade Empire, or even Mass Effect had some 'amazing' graphics, and then call this garbage, you are quite frankly an idiot.
Bioware always made their games known for their story. I understand many complaining about the graphics understand this, but get over yourselves and stop exaggerating a point you made. Yes, the graphics don't make me think 'ZOMG LOOK AT THIS TREE, OMG LOOK AT THIS GRASS!!,' but the environment and plot are enough to entice me with. Learning the history of each little part of the map is just amazing. I spend more time it seems reading codexes and trying to make a timeline/family tree than I do play the game.
Great work bioware, I hope the positive comments don't get overlooked by the horde of trolls/people who are unhappy with the product they purchased.

I suspect this was done for static console systems, one reason I dislike games designed for both platforms. It seems the PC always loses out in some way in these cases.

I think the graphics are fine. I'm running the game on a four year old PC with a 256mb video card, but the game runs smoothly and the graphics have plenty of pizazz for me:
Yeah, the character models are great and they have been all along. Most of the scenery when you first start the game looks like crud ... In this screen the outdoor scenery looks like it may be pretty decent but I cant tell as its full of the awesome looking character models. Indoor scenery has been much much better than the outdoor. Its too bad they decided to start us mostly outside.

There is still plenty of eye candy to be enjoyed, and there are plenty of stylistic elements to be praised: much of it compliments the story well and does a wonderful job of portraying the dark and magical world the story is set in. I still feel in some ways that I am playing a game from years ago with a rather poorly performing graphics engine, and in that respect it reminds me of The Witcher. However, in that case too the graphic's style went a long way in making up for the graphical shortcomings.
In short: I hope that the Eclipse Engine gets a serious overhaul in the graphics department in preparation for Bioware's next release. That doesn't change the fact that Bioware has released by far my favorite and most engrossing RPGs ever since Baldur's Gate 2

So, I purchased the PC version of the game, I went through the launcher, all settings are on max, AA is all the way up. My framerate (with a 5850) is buttery smooth but the game still kind of looks like ass. Now, before people begin flaming me saying that gameplay>graphics, yes you're right. But, video games are a visual medium, and just as poor audio quality on a CD is a bad thing, bad graphics in a video game is a bad thing and can worsen the experience.
I'm not just here to complain.
Is there anything I could do to improve the visual fidelity? Any .inis I can edit (like in the Unreal Engine 3).
It's a shame but the poor graphics are actually detracting from my gameplay experience. It's fun, but it just looks really bad.
Mass Effect looked spectacular, largely due to lighting and reflections, this game is dissapointing on the graphical front.
Please don't flame.
Will the gfx get better throughout the game (the game took 4+ years to make)?
Ill agree with you regarding the consoles graphics, but as for the PC I fee that although they are not any means top notch, they are certainly good enough. They way I see it is that the game has a certain style or look unto its own. This goes for blood as well. Some are complaining about too much blood. I think the blood adds to the style of the game - its not realistic, never was supposed to be, but it has character. Its like the movie "Kill Bill."

Meh this game graphics are above average if you compare em to all others.
Yes..a lot of it is decent..but still doesn't change the fact that there are textuers that are inexcusably bad or overlooked...

No idea right now if that'll even be useful though...
I just wouldn't mind toning down some of the the current 200W light bulbs in some of the castles and make the outdoor areas look a little nicer. I'm hoping that's just a map setting I can control, but anyway, I don't mean to be too down on the game. I've just never been able to stand bloom all that much the way it's usually used.
