Bad Graphics

Finally to the poster a few above me.. You can get yourself a decent graphics card for $50. If you play computer games, you need a decent graphics card and they're not all that expensive.

Just finished the Wilds. So far the graphics smell like feet and cigarettes.
I'm a sucker for rpgs so I shall soldier on regardless and most likely enjoy the game. Ah, what could have been though.... sigh.
Yeah..sadly the graphics are the only thing holding the game back. Still terrific and I am quite enjoying it..but the texture errors really detract from things... at least if those messed up textuers would be fixed Id deal with the rest of the graphical flaws..

Bottom line is, the graphics off this game is good. And that's all there is too it. That some people don't want to call anything other than Crysis level off graphics or above for good, and anything less for crap. Well, that is up to you. Just don't expect to be taken serious.

The graphic in DA is actually decent (good details and animations) even if its not comparable with modern 1st person shooters.
Anyone remember when Neverwinter Nights 2 got launced? Poor framerate and screwed up cameracontrol.

JayKay...You need to show proof you don't have these same texture issues with screen shots...Or you're being like everyone else who replies to this thread with worthless comments. If you read the thread you would know none of us are saying it looks bad at all. I run it maxed myself...

You can see my screenshots under my profile, they all look pretty flawless to me....

If you have no texture issues that are mentioned in this thread, then please post screens showing this. So we then can let the developer know it's working for some. But I am still waiting for ANYONE to prove otherwise!

...the only thing that bothers me slightly are the overly low-res textures on some objects (wardrobes, carts, etc..). I kinda hope there's going to be a fix for this, but I'm not holding my breath. (Anyone remember ME-PC ? some NPCs had awful low-res clothing/armor...just like in the console versions...never got fixed)
Anyhow, graphics are fine.

The graphics are looking lovely to me. But if people really want higher textures, surely someone is beavering away on something a la The Witcher Texturen mod?
I'm sure someone is making a graphics texture pack as we speak. There's already a hi-res texture pack for Risen, and that was released only a month or so ago. Drakensang also had a hi-res texture pack released not long after the game came out. Personally, I think DA looks just fine, but there's nothing wrong with pushing the limits of what our pcs are capable of doing.
I like the game as it is, but if someone makes some hi-res textures for some of the background stuff, I'm not going to lie...I'll gladly install it and thank the provider.

what are you talking about? The graphics are fine on PC. Maybe you're doing it wrong.
I don't buy many games these days - I still play Warcraft 3 and quit World of Warcraft about 6 months ago - so to me, Dragon Age visuals are pretty spectacular

I'm starting to think making an entirely different topic on the issue is what we're going to have to do to avoid these kinds of replies. It's starting to get pretty annoying, honestly, and I think the game looks great.syklonis01 wrote...
Sorry Jaykay, like I mentioned..We are looking for texture loading issues. Screenshots taken by the game are not showing what we're talking about, especially since they look like crap under profiles. (downgraded for web use)

I still encounter these textures in places however and I'll be doing my damned best to help the developers fix it.

Well, making hi res graphics texture packages isn't exactly magic; it doesn't happen by itself. We're going to need to help the developers find where these textures are off, so there are more than a few ways to help:
A) What installation do you have, Steam, other digital distributor or DVD?
C) Post pictures of other low-resolution objects that other people have not posted.
D) Let us know if an object that has been posted a picture of is NOT a problem for you in terms of textures.
I'd suggest someone make a new thread for this though. If it happens, then maybe the developers can provide it in a patch that is relatively small as opposed to a large community made package.

Dragon Age Origins Screenshots
Screenshots include:
1. Examples of DAO bad textures, or not mapping correctly.
2. Example of Kameo, made in 2005 when the Xbox 360 released.
3. Examples of Mass Effect on 360.
4. Clipping issues in DAO.

this game looks TERRIBLE.
I've been playing Crysis Warhead all day. I've probably spoiled myself.
That pretty much explains it. The game doesn't look bad it just that Crysis looks amazingly good and when you put them side by side you would think DA looks horrible because Crysis looks so good.

It's the absolute lazy outdoor environement design, a few sparse trees etc. There needs to be more 'doodads' there is simply not enough. When entering the bracilian forest (after entering through the main villiage) there is like 7 bushes in a row on the right, all the same tree design, all facing the same way. Usually level desiners use a bit of auto-randomisation to change the orrientaion of objects, or even use different tree models.....apparently not in this game. When a 2009 game maxed out with 8aa looks worse than FFX in certain areas....there is something wrong. I totally get the gameplay over graphics......but the graphics are still below average, average would have been nice compared to this.
This.
