The op is right..the textures are very bad in this game...I was really shocked when I saw them. It's a shame because the PC's look great, armor look terrific. There are great spell effects and animations and awesome lighting..but then the textures on environments are just horrible.
I have to agree with this. I'm a person that still regularly replays games a decade or more old, so dated graphics don't bother me. What does perturb me is sloppy work. DA is very contradictory in that some parts are beautiful and superbly animated, while others are shoddy and horribly awkward. As the post I quoted brought up, the environments are the worst culprits; particularly the textures on certain objects. The average crate or door for instance seems way lower resolution than everything else and stands out horribly.
It really hit me how bad some of these textures were when I reached Ostagar and looked down at the forested land from a balcony edge. It had that tile based, NWN1 look, complete with the clipping I sometimes see from certain camera angles in that game
On more of a nitpick level...
I'm slightly disappointed with the female character model. Granted I noticed this in the character creator weeks back along with others, but it's a lot more pronounced to me when actually playing. It looks like the artists just tweaked a male model enough to make it female. The hands in particular both frighten and astonish me with their giant-sized weirdness.

To make things clear, I'm running DA with maximum settings at 1680x1050 resolution, so my PC is not the limiting factor here. This obviously hasn't killed the game for me, and it did look spiffy during certain scenes... but I can't help agree with those reviewers that gave DA's visuals a lower score.
