Now this is something that struck me when I was chating with a friend about our HATE/love relationship with DA2.

One of the few things I loved to pieces in DA2 was how companions intereacted with each other. How you could walk in on them in a certain tavern, hear what they say and occasionaly comment and even if not that I found it satisfaying to see just...well how they view each other.

...And what I loved even more was when I was just running around to sell gear or get a new quest and then suddenly  I heard  my companions chat to each other while bravely running after me. At times it was so amusing that I could not help but laugh and try to find the clip with said chitchat again or even go as far as to reload a save!
Random example!:

So the first thing I must ask is, has there been any word at all from Bioware if they will have all of that in yet again? If not then I do pray that they will not take it out or lessen it's roll to add more action or somesuch ( yes, yes cheap shot at ''bioware being forced by EA to be more appealing to CoD people"  >.> <,< ).

Thank you o/

Edit: Ksh, do not read into the CoD thing too much! Just my general worry about  less rpg in their...well RPG's.

Also wanted to add one more thing! I adored in Dragon age 2 how the auto dialogue your charecter had adjusted according to what options you tended to pick! Good example :
just to show how hawk reacts differently x)

Well there's banter in the first game as well as the second so I think it's safe to say that it will exist in the next one. And to the people that insist Bioware is going after the CoD crowd with the Dragon Age games... wth are you smoking? Sure they made it more action-ey but action=/=CoD. CoD is a fps if Bioware wanted the CoD fanbase they would have made a first person shooter, stop being stupid...

This is an area I felt DA2 did better than DA:O.

DA:O and DA2 both had party banter, when wandering around they'd talk to each other.

But DA2 improved on that by also adding in little comments from Hawke, and by adding the conversations between companions that you could walk in on. It was great. I'd like to see more of that. Joining in on conversations between my companions made me really feel like they were real people, not just Hawke followers, and was one of my favorite aspects of the game.

They need to take it further - the NPCs should interact with one another separate from the main protagonist.

All the more interesting if you have some ability to alter their interactions throughout the game.

I did enjoy the comments from Hawke, but some people felt that having their character talking without their consent while not in a conversation was hard to swallow. I get where the complaints come from, so I wouldn't mind not having the MC be part of the convo anymore, though I'd be okay with it if s/he did.

As much as I liked the companion conversations, everyone other than the targetted companion ran from the room whenever Hawke entered. (For example, when you walk into Aveline's office, you'd catch the end of a conversation with Isabella, but then she'd leave and the conversation would be between Hawke and Aveline).

I'd like to see that taken a step further. Let Hawke join in on the conversations, and have real multi-companion conversations occuring.

I'd also like to see more interjections into other conversations from companions. Some of my favorite options in conversation during the game were when you deferred to another party member to speak on your behalf. More of that, please.

@Dhiro: "My" character should never speak without my consent - I do find it insanely irritating.

However - let those NPCs go hog-wild with dialogue. I'd sit back for a bit and listen if I'm invested in the NPCs.

I understand that argument, but I think Hawke was more of a defined character than the Warden, and that sort of thing is okay in that instance. That time when Hawke interjects in the conversation between Bethany and Isabella had me laughing. I loved it.

If you're asking whether we'll have the random party banter, then yes. Of course. If anything, we'll have more of it.

Though it was probably taken for granted that this would be true, it's still nice to hear it "officially", as it were.

Oh, you just made my day!! Posted Image  I like the more of it possibility.  I would find myself just stopping to listen to the party banter a lot of times. I would be sad when it stopped  sometimes.Posted Image

Party bantern is just glitter, like commercials in tv. They have no actual effect on the gameplay nor the character interaction, none of the banter discussions are adressed in the actual discussion between characters. Though its kind of fun to hear, its totally irrelevant.

Oh? The random bantern the companions had did effect how I played the game at least and it was ( for me at least) more then just a bit of glitter/just a commercial. I felt it gave a charecter....well more charecter but again just me! I am just now very happy it will be in DA3 and maybe even more of it.

It develops the characters.  That's not irrelevant.

I didn't mind Hawke being included in the banter and I thought that having what they said change according to the dominant personality to be a nice touch. But I would still prefer it to be minimal. Legacy and MOTA struck a good balance with this imo.

Erm.  You can say that about any element of the game that does not directly lead to a "YOU WIN" screen.
If you think the companions are "glitter" than you're doing it wrong.  Or right, dependent upon how fabulous the glitter makes them look.

I just want the option to join in on the banter from time-to-time. In the other games I would often hear two companions talking and I had something to add, or it would portray to me and I wanted to choose how I responded. But I just sat there quite and listening. Why not, when two companions are talking, every once and a while have an option to jump in?

I think tying Hawke's banter-responses to your current set mood worked pretty well.
I also liked how in MotA you describe your father based upon your personality, as well - cute little detail.

This. Plus more incredibly funny sarcastic dialogue. "Tell the world I died at Chateau Haine!" Posted Image Best line in the game.Posted Image
