We all (intelligent people) give you money if you don't add them. I hope all the volus leaked in DLC database are not kits. It can't be true. You can't break YOUR lore in this way.

We can discuss about collectors but their arrival can be LOGICAL. And fun to play against.

Volus ? Is that fun to play that thing ? They are too weak to SPEAK and you want add them to fight reapers like a Krogan ?

This is not a comedy game. This is not angry bird here. Some serious please. I play a sci-fi game.

We all hope the leak is wrong.

When it become a matter of survival, species will find the fight in them even if normally they do not.  That's what I think.  But it would be cool if they make it work without breaking the lores that came before?  I mean, so far the Volus don't fight because they're client race of the Turian, and have it easy.

There is no way a race has zero military arms of their own.  They must have some police military, even if it is small.  It would make more sense.

if quarians can be in the game with lore stating that if their suits rip they would die due infection and are fighting in mp then the volus can be in mp due the same reason they never ever stated that volus dont even fight there mostly biotics so they would better suited for caster use..

so going by you standards we cant have fem/male quarians in mp due lore.

you logic just failed.:police:

volus shall be playable and you will like it,. sayth the bioware,

You should consider reading posts you reply to. You will often find it makes for a better conversation when you are having the same conversation.

Soldiers who die of sickness a week later once the mission is over are not a weak point. Soldiers who choke and die in minutes are. Calculable and predictable risks that don't compromise the mission are not comparable to incalculable and unpredictable risks that do.

If you don't want to play as Volus, don't. If you don't want to see a Volus in MP, then you can either solo or make a private match. Why don't the people who really don't want it create a group that abstains from using the Volus? If there's that many of you that care, then it shouldn't be a problem finding others to add to your friends lists.

Juss sayin...

No, sorry. People who want a joke stuff in a lore-based game are not supposed to be favored. YOU should find an alternative solution.

I seriously doubt there is an entire species without warriors. Now, while they are likely very few in number, logically there must be Volus that can fight.

Also, it'll probably be oodles of fun playing as one.

Ok let's try it with a little analogy. Imagine in the next Star Wars game there would be lightsabre wielding jedi jawas. They might be fun, but they would bother the sh*t out of a lot of people.
And yes, if they were fun to play in a way it would be a bad thing. Because why couldn't that fun gameplay mechanic be included without having to punch people in the face, who care about lore.
And yes, I play video games for fun as well. But please accept the fact, that for some people the story and the backgroundlore etc are part of the fun. Part of what seperates games like Mass Effect from the next random CoD.

DISCLAIMER:
I don't hate CoD, I really enjoyed CoD 4 (the last one I played) and I in no way want to dismiss the game or it's fans as being inferior. ;)

Considering I've never been huge into Star Wars, that analogy is lost on me, but I get the gist of what you're saying. The thing is that including Volus is nowhere near the level of including, say, Protheans in terms of breaking lore. They can make any excuse for why their pressurized suits hold up to gunfire - be it a military upgrade or whatever. We already know the Volus have a military, so it isn't inconceivable for them to have ground units.

I can see why some people might get upset about adding Protheans (though I would think it was awesome), but Volus? It really doesn't break lore that much to be honest. Certainly no worse than some other things we've seen in MP.

It's been said in a few places, but I'll try and sum up my thoughhts.

This is a war for the survival of your very species. If you have to rely on others alone, you will surely perish when their survival depends on not saving you. The Volus have money and connections, they are intelligent, they will prepare.

Not true. The multiplayer is a tiny fraction of one aspect of the war for the survival of every species. If I am fighting for my race's continued existence, I want everyone who can hold a gun to be fighting. But I don't want Grandma over there fighting in the elite special operations unit that is the only chance we have of actually achieving something out of the deaths of millions it took to buy this chance.

TBH, A Volus can technically have his Biotic Suit "Equiped and Enhanced" for Combat capabilities.

I seem to remember to recall a certain Volus on Illium that wanted to "enhance" his suit, but never had the credits to afford it.

BIOWARE SETUP THE LORE FOR IT, WE JUST NEVER ACTUALLY SEE IT. TBH, everyone who thinks Combat Volus are considered a "joke", can just go elsewhere and go back to crying about how the Carnifex is so OP(lol).

put a volus on a speedy wheelchair-like device with a mounted machine gun. problem solved.

edit: put a female volus on a speedy wheelchair-like device with a mounted machine gun. that should satisfy the gender equality and the people with disability forumites.

Volus make as much sense as letting quarians "If I get hit once I will die from infection" marines on the battlefield. Or the vorcha "Rip and tear! Rip and Tear!" guys work with anyone else other than krogan. Besides, they could be using reinforced suits with motorized joints, you know, things that exsist in lore.

Besides, are all members of the volus all none combatants? Where's the rule that said every speices except humanity is completly uniformally the same.

Did lore say anything about Batarians fighting reapers in Rio? No it didn't. Oh wait what about Geth in Vancouver? No it didn't. You are comparing a real life organism to a character made in a scifi universe. Also, Biotic God says otherwise.

Let's face it, when it comes to the MP big picture, realism & lore take the back seats to replayability & variety.

Example:

Let's say I play the N7 Destroyer exclusively. After returning to base I head to the Armory to spend some hard earned credits on equipment to use that will boost my effectiveness in future skirmishes.

Anybody that fights on or for my side would agree that supporting my skillset with relevant equipment would be the logical thing to do. However the Armory has a strange design & it seems I've just walked into an Armory/Casino hybrid. I offer up a (large) portion of my recently earned credits and wait with anticipation that suddenly turns to anxiety when my reward is unveiled...I received the Adaptive War Amp!?

They must have run out of Typhoons. That's the only logical excuse for me to get a biotic Gear & not the upgrade to the weapon I rely on to best support my team & the war we fight.

Wait, the Drell Adept that was in line behind me has started screaming at the Armory's customer service rep...it seems he was given a Typhoon! They didn't run out?! WTF?

Ok, I should just trade with the Drell & solve both problems. Unfortunately the Armory rep insists that their policy will not allow any trading to take place.

Would anyone wanting their forces to win a war deploy their Chopper Pilots with M1 Abrams Battle Tanks? Why is this no trade policy in place? What kind of Armory supports it's forces by using an RNG system?

Answer: one that supports MP replayabilty over ending the war quickly. One that lets the importance of a game's longevity eclipse it's logic & lore.

On topic:

A few weeks ago someone created a thread suggesting the MP of ME3 was a simulator used by our side to practice before & between real battles. I'm not saying that IS our reality but maybe it CAN help explain such oddities as the RNG or in this case, Volus on the frontlines for people that choose to hold Lore so close to their hearts

TL;DR   honestly, if you don't have time to read a few short paragraphs you really don't have time for video games

That's right, it says nothing. For Volus, does it say nothing ? No, it says Volus can't fight. Stop speaking now, go play again the entire trilogy and see by yourself how ridiculous you are to think that volus can be implemented.

And here is where we disagree. True, Protheans would be even worse (please don't open that can), but Volus are bad enough. It is made really clear throughout all three Mass Effect games, that the Volus are not a warrior race. They do have a military, but not ground troops that fight in a way that would fit the MP part of ME3. They are traders, brokers and engineers (NOT combat engineers ;)).

Oh yeah? What about Salarians? I was just looking at the datamining that Cyonan's got going on and not a single Salarian was mentioned, yet we're apparently getting 4 of those little mouthbreathing ******s?

Did you see the trailer? Yeah, it was awesome. You know what wasn't cool? Only one new character model. If we're really getting 4 kits of Volus stupidity and the rest of the characters look just like the vanilla models, I'll bet you a million credits that the reason for no new models is because of the extensive programming and work it took to get those 4 wastes of space to work.Image IPB

Who cares about the lore...there are people who are looking foward to that character...so who are you to say what's in or out of the game.Plus MP doesn't have to be 100% lore approved.

God I forgot the level of FANATISM you can find here... I hope they put Prothean too...

Quarians get shot, suit ruptures, infection is typically contained. If not, they may get sick if it's not treated quickly, and might die, much later.

Volus gets shot, suit ruptures-- THEY. ****ING. EXPLODE! Goddamn, you people are the densest ****ing jackasses I've EVER had the displeasure of having an argument with. Right now, I'd like nothing more than to ****ing clock each and every person that thinks, after all this time they spend playing Mass Effect games and posting on a BioWare forum with a strong Mass Effect community, that Quarians are just as inviable as a Volus on a battlefield, among other many ****** posts I've seen in just these past few hours. It's asinine!

And before any of you start it, I am not simply defending Quarians. I'm sick of ignorance.

If the addition of Volus hinders your ability to enjoy this game, then you're taking it way too seriously. I'll admit that the thought of a Volus taking down a banshee is a bit silly, but it's just a game. If you're really that uptight about lore you should have quit playing the second you heard about the synthesis ending.
