But seriously, guys, it's a video game. You don't need to tear each other's heads off. And please don't call each other "children." Calling people who hold a differing opinion children is one of the most immature and irritating manners of argument that I can think of. Bottom line, some people think matching up with lore is important in a largely irrelevant MP mode, and some people don't care and just want fun gameplay. In that sense it's the same argument as the MP Protheans argument, and that cooled down months ago.

Every society at some point has conflict, and every society needs peace keepers, wether that is of a military sort or a police force. We are talking about an entire race here, with a population of planetary proportions - I doubt they have always co-existed with each other peacefully. Even so, facing total annihilation I sure they would throw everything they could into defending themselves. Them helping out other races is perhaps the most unrealistic aspect.

True, they have a dreadnaught and a bombing fleet. But you do realize that we don't fly over the battle field throwing bombs at the enemies right ? What I mean is, those ships are not manned by infantry that fight on the ground. And when it comes to their planet. Sure, they can live without their pressure suits there. I am sure they once had Warriors in their society, but they only had to compete with other Volus Warriors in their home environment and not Reapers/Geth/Cerberus/(Collectors) outside their home environment (meaning with their pressure suits on)

I agree with OP, Volus Infantry is ridiculous, their whole story is based upon the fact they can't defend themselves (they have other talents). They are under Turian protectorate...
Big balloons scattered on Palaven moon, fighting against reapers? Will just break immersion, ME is all about drama, fatality, fall of civilization. Krogans, ultimate troopers in the whole galaxy, die by thousands but Volus will be of any help? They can't move, they can't breath correctly, how come could they do that?

I however could understand if they're only ingame for halloween, but if not, just remember it's a galactic war and Multiplayer is about guerilla operation : hit fast, hit hard, and run away. No way Volus can do that.

If they really arrive (the Volus) I am going to take that glove, slap it in your face and demand that you play a match with me (as Volus). Choose your arms if you win, monsieur.

How can a gameplay match justify that kind of lore breaking ? If you win the match what happens ? And if i do ? Nothing.

If I "win" (Volus are DLC) it will settle the dispute and convince you of the fun to be had. If you "win" (No Volus are DLC) you can troll me and make me play a Drell, which I really dislike.

In the end everybody would "win". However, if lore is really is that important to you, you can deny the challenge and we go either way.

I want a playable Diana Allers in multiplayer.  Also, a playable Sergeant Gardner - the chef/janitor from Mass Effect 2.  If anybody disagrees with this, they're selfish and trying to deprive me of having fun.

Diana Allers is a journalist, so I don't really see what she would be doing on the battlefield apart from using her battletits as cannon fodder. But if it came out, I wouldn't want to restrict people from using it.
Sergeant Gardner on the other hand would be pretty cool. He's fun.

It's an analysis of what you have said thus far. You think it's unacceptable, because it breaks lore. Except not everyone is a lore maniac. Some people wouldn't mind Volus being added to the bunch. Though you are basically forcing your thoughts onto other people as if your opinions are more valuable than theirs. If people want to have Volus, why should they not have have the ability to play as them because of your coflicting beliefs?

The thing is, there is a fundamental disagreement here. You say, "We want to force our will upon you". I could say the same about you "forcing your will upon us" ? That leads to nowhere. I think the Multiplayer should be distant from the lore anyway.

It really already is in a sense and I think its still too tied to Single player as it is.

I see no issue with this.

Yes its ridiculous - but so are whips, swords, and not being able to grab Pyros and Phantoms from cover.
