I love how you call people who want Volus childish when you're argument is "Since I don't like Volus in MP, then no one should have them." I think it's childish to let something as non-problematic as Volus ruin your enjoyment of the game. Not to mention you state opinions as facts.

Considering it is an add-on that's somewhat viable (unlike Protheans would be that would contradict ALL established lore), I think we should just accept it and play it. It's not like it's out yet, so I don't see what the fuss is all about.
I don't know if I'm being selfish, for I don't just want to play the Volus for myself and whatever. I just disapprove of how you're trying to restrict others from playing merely because of your prejudice against an in-game race.
So, varren are an in-game race. Is it legit if i want them standing into a super battlesuit a fighting in mp operation with some guns ? It is NOT. And people who will say "no we don't want Varrens" are not selfish. They just are logical.
I love that scene (and movie)K1LL STREAK wrote...
The Volus have a battleship of some sort which you can gain as an asset in single player, you cant tell me it is full of bankers. I have a mental image of that Monty Python sketch at the start of "The meaning of life" I cannot find the proper clip on Youtube of "The Crimson Permanent Assurance" but its awesome.
True, they have a dreadnaught and a bombing fleet. But you do realize that we don't fly over the battle field throwing bombs at the enemies right ? What I mean is, those ships are not manned by infantry that fight on the ground. And when it comes to their planet. Sure, they can live without their pressure suits there. I am sure they once had Warriors in their society, but they only had to compete with other Volus Warriors in their home environment and not Reapers/Geth/Cerberus/(Collectors) outside their home environment (meaning with their pressure suits on)Every society at some point has conflict, and every society needs peace keepers, wether that is of a military sort or a police force. We are talking about an entire race here, with a population of planetary proportions - I doubt they have always co-existed with each other peacefully. Even so, facing total annihilation I sure they would throw everything they could into defending themselves. Them helping out other races is perhaps the most unrealistic aspect.

Sorry, but why do people think they are just running gags?
They look silly with their bumbly figure, OK, but that "Biotic God" overshadows quite some of the other aspects of Volusness.
I don't think they are all that silly and ridiculous (although the biotic God IS one of the best gags in the series.)
They are dealers, crimelords, business-people living quite well with their image as helpless pathetic people.
dealers, crimelords and business-people, yes. They are not supposed to be in front of the hardest battles of the universe. Thanks, you prove by yourself that volus are not a good stuff to add to the multiplayer. Thanks a lot
Au contraire, all I said was that they live comfortable with that image of theirs.
If they really arrive (the Volus) I am going to take that glove, slap it in your face and demand that you play a match with me (as Volus). Choose your arms if you win, monsieur.
How can a gameplay match justify that kind of lore breaking ? If you win the match what happens ? And if i do ? Nothing.

I agree with OP, Volus are ridiculous, their whole story is based upon the fact they can't defend themselves (they have other talents). They are under Turian protectorate...
Big balloons scattered on Palaven moon, fighting against reapers? Will just break immersion, ME is all about drama, fatality, fall of civilization. Krogans, ultimate troopers in the whole galaxy, die by thousands but Volus will be of any help? They can't move, they can't breath correctly, how come could they do that?
I however could understand if they're only ingame for halloween, but if not, just remember it's a galactic war and Multiplayer is about guerilla operation : hit fast, hit hard, and run away. No way Volus can do that.

So you're saying the Volus is equivalent of the ME-universe dogs now?
Okay, now that's just racist.
I personally would not mind a Varren side-kick for a Krogan, though... Some sort of ability.
Obviously they couldn't be a stand-alone fighting race, because they are not sentient in the sense the other races are. Volus are not animals, while Varren are.

I want a playable Diana Allers in multiplayer. Also, a playable Sergeant Gardner - the chef/janitor from Mass Effect 2. If anybody disagrees with this, they're selfish and trying to deprive me of having fun.

Every single post of yours, to be honest. You just attempt to hide your negative emotions towards the Volus race under the banner of "logic and intelligence".

Wow, what a varrenracist.
Sir and/or Madam, just because you dont think Varren are sentient doesnt mean everyone else does.
I for one would welcomeVolusVarren into MP as a playable class because that one scene in ME2 with theVolusVarren was hilarious.
If people want to have Volus, why should they not have have the ability to play as them because of your coflicting beliefs?
In the situation you used when something is 'comparable' to something else it means that they are similar. Yes, they both make people sad... but the outcomes of both mean that they are not remotely comparable. You cannot compare something that would lead to the death of millions of people to something that would make some players of a video game unhappy.tictactucrac wrote...

You honestly can't see the difference in a 'sad thing' that causes pain, death and suffering in the real world to a 'sad thing' that'll make some people a tad annoyed (or upset if you're a little weird)?tictactucrac wrote...
Those situations are comparable to you?
Stop laughing and explain me why they are not please
Harm to millions people = sad thing
"some nerds unhappy" like you call us are thousands people sadness = sad thing
Are you serious ? What interest to COMPARE if there isn't any difference ?
Suffering isn't the same, but suffering IS the key to compare
So yes, again, those situations are, of course, comparable. Both create suffering.

VARREN VANGUARD FOR SQUADDIE AND LI
The thing is, there is a fundamental disagreement here. You say, "We want to force our will upon you". I could say the same about you "forcing your will upon us" ? That leads to nowhere. And don't hit me with the "you don't like them, don't play them" argument, because I have no control over other squadmembers playing them....Mendelevosa wrote...
It's an analysis of what you have said thus far. You think it's unacceptable, because it breaks lore. Except not everyone is a lore maniac. Some people wouldn't mind Volus being added to the bunch. Though you are basically forcing your thoughts onto other people as if your opinions are more valuable than theirs. If people want to have Volus, why should they not have have the ability to play as them because of your coflicting beliefs?
Diana Allers is a journalist, so I don't really see what she would be doing on the battlefield apart from using her battletits as cannon fodder.
