Ok, I will admit that Vorcha engineers make no sense whatsoever.

It does, it's mentioned in ME2 codex (I think) that Vorcha learn quickly, it's just because they die so fast no one would invest in training them

I thought they had limited intelligence but superior physiology.

Yeah vorcha aren't particularly smart but their bodies adapt very quickly and are super resiliant. ME2 painted them as almost comically stupid. I actually would have been against MP vorcha for this reason had ME3 not shown us some more capable vorcha in that they're running the Blood Pack themselves now and not being relegated to grunt work.

The Codex on the wiki mentions that "Shortly after the vorcha's discovery, several asari mining corporations adopted vorcha orphans from Heshtok, raising them to live nonviolent lives and employed them in the mining industry on Parasc. While these efforts were at first labeled colonialist, the orphans became minor celebrities when it was discovered that the vorcha habit of using violence to communicate was not completely innate. Several spoke throughout Citadel space on behalf of their species, but their short life spans kept their careers very brief. Even today, companies that want vorcha labor have the poor choice between adopting and educating them as youngsters just to watch them age and die or dealing with autonomous but violent adults." so they can be taught

Nonsense.  I just have an extremely low opinion of you.

And this is why people are arguing with you about your opinion of Volus, your unwillingness to look at the facts available and come to a reasonable conclusion based on these facts.

I am astounded by what I am reading in this thread first of all...

My opinion... as far as "lore" goes, I don't think ME3 MP has too much lore to begin with. I'm sure there are plenty of things that don't make sense already. Adding a Volus? Why not. Adding a Prothean when there is supposed to be only 1? I think the bottom line is having fun in this game. If it makes the game more fun... then in the end I could care less about the lore; I never thought ME3 MP directly related to ME3 SP anyhow. If you don't like the new classes that are released... then just don't play them. If you don't want to play in the same group as someone using them, then leave the group. Simple as that.

Things in the game universe change, why can't people accept that there is a possibility of using Volus, a race who at this point, need to fight to survive.

There's more than a slight difference between finding one frozen bug, a handful of people changing their stance on an issue when the Reapers are invading, and a reclusive group no one knew much of anything about being different than expected vs. a race that's been in the Citadel for nearly 3,000 years suddenly being awesome at the thing they've always sucked the most at.

And again, MP matches are designed around the best of the best taking on impossible odds.  Not the worst of the worst firing off a few shots before becoming a meat shower.

Hey, just because they're a client race doesn't mean that they can't fight. They have/had a dreadnought afterall.

Multiplayer matches are designed on recruiting people who at the start (level 1) can just about hold a gun and have access to a limited amount of one power.

Honestly, what I don't understand is why so many people are so hellbent on restricting others from having Volus in multiplayer.
It's like, "I don't want Volus so Bioware should not release the Volus because who cares about all the other people who would actually like to play Volus because I am me and only my opinion matters on this subject"...?

Man, all you anti-Volus people are selfish. "If I don't want something, no one else should have it either".

Damn, don't you understand ? We don't want yes.

Why don't we want ? We say "because lore say it's ridiculous"

Why do YOU want ? You say "because i want"

So i think here you are the selfish.

Poor vorcha.  They drop dead at about 20 in case anyone's wondering how short those lives are.  And that's 20 for old age, most of them don't make it that long.  No wonder they're so excited that I'M ALIVE!, poor things are all kids.

I am stoked for Retaliation obviously, and the inclusion of the Volus while odd will not detracted Dom the trailer and Harbinger's awesomeness. I will adopt a wait and see approach with these characters.

Personally I don't feel the Volus should have been included for obvious lore reason, and also because it opens a whole can of worms in regards to what can be added to multiplayer. It won't be long before people will be saying that Prothians, and Hanar should be added because the Volus were added.

But I am not up in arms and calling Bioware "stupid idiots" for wanting to include them. I have faith that Bioware will have a valid, reasonable, and non-lore breaking reason for the Volus to be included.

Case in point: When the Phantom, Kia Leng, and the Slayer, and Shadow were announced my first reaction was "Freaking SPACE NINJAS!? Mass Effect shouldn't have, and never alluded to having Sword wielding Ninjas!" But Bioware delved into detail about mono-molecular blades and about how in a world of Kinetic Shields a blade (omni or sword) made sense to be able to bypass shielding and armor. So swords and omni blades make sense lore-wise; I still subconsciously roll my eyes when the SPACE NINJA flips across the screen, but it makes sense.

As long as the Volus can be explained I can accept them being added to multiplayer; I would have preferred a more "combat ready" race like additional Salarians or Geth but I can deal with them.

However if the entire Volus lineup is just an extension of the "I AM A BIOTIC GOD!" meme then I would have a problem. If the Volus class is nothing more than a running gag that detracts from the overall atmosphere of multiplayer then I would be upset, and want to know why the Volus wasted valuable resources just for a couple of lolz.

TL; DR version: I am going to wait and see what the Volus bring to the table before I decry there inclusion. As long as the Volus classes are explained by Bioware, and are not a complete joke class I have no problem with them.

You bring up a good point with the space ninja comparison.  But here's why I'm not convinced: the SP and MP teams are different devs, even working in different cities if I remember right.  The SP team is the ones who made the space ninjas make sense.  Actually, if you look back at the codex in ME1, even then there's reference to krogans being vulnerable to monowhateverthehellthatwordis blades.  In ME1!  Whereas the MP team...  they've yet to explain why the typhoon spits out spent shell casings.  And I think the answer is obvious: because the MP team doesn't know their lore half as well as they should.

Seriously though, how effective do people expect a Volus to be in a battle? Can't run away from enemies, may have a strong shield but probably very low health. Melee?...lol..please.....

Unless they have unbelievable powers, They will be of NO USE in a battle....

But they look cute so some people want them...lol....wow......

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. If the volus are added tastefully with believable lore for why the little guys who up until now have been utterly helpless in terms of physical combat are suddenly able to serve in elite spec-ops squads, I won't have much issue with it. If they are just an extension of this annoying joke and are added "for teh lulz" then it'll probably end with me leaving the game for good.

Small point of note, total War Assets received from Volus in ME3 is 265 (125 Fleet/95 Crucible Scientists/45 Volus side quests) compared to 145 for Salarians - assuming you chose to cure the genophage - or 155 for the Batarians and 95 for the Vorcha. Many would argue they've earned the right to stand by the sides of their allies in the fight.

I understand the people holding fast to lore but nothing in this game is set in stone and can be changed to entertain the majority of the playerbase... and rightly so.

Does sound like they're exploiting the popularity of the "biotic god", doesn't it...

But I'll reserve judgement. The volus may be hilariously OP or otherwise fun enough to forgive it. Also may well be voiced by Meer.

There's no "right" to it, of course everyone should be able to fight the Reapers.  They're trying to wipe out all other forms of life.  The objection isn't that they haven't earned it, it's that they're not physically capable of fighting in the kinds of missions we do.
