It's best to do the fade early. Due to the level scaling, the mages are alot easier to handle for a non mage/templar, if they're level 8 as opposed to to 18. It is one of my favorite areas in the game. Really the only area that doesn't feel like it was copied from another game.

I kept getting my butt handed to me, so I stopped it and started over cuz I figured I did something deathly wrong when creating my character.

Once I realized to play as the forms and not my character I got a LOT better at this. To me the "tactical" element here is properly managing and swapping forms to get the most bang for your buck.

lol only form I had at the time was the Rat thing, I kept getting stuck in a room that had a door and on the other side was fire, so the only way I could figure was to have to kill the Anger Demon(whatever it was) and the possessed templar, as a Rogue I just could do enough damage to them before I died as I didn't have enough healing potions to keep up

It can be worse if you have the rat form and forget to stealth the rat. Made that mistake a few times. :o

Well its obvious that you cant beat that part of the game with just leeeroy rushing the mobs, so if you cant get past one section you have to rethink and maybe try another section for more clues.

Personally I love Fade. No damn locked chests tempting me there.

See, I like The Fade, and I even like the Deep Roads. Redcliffe annoys me.

I hate the fact that if you go from mouse to human form while in combat you get kind of stuck in mouse form, with your tail pointing straight up and your head below the ground/floor. This leads to line of sight problems, atleast with a mage character. My staff attacks keep getting blocked. That might not be much of an issue if your mage has plenty enough offensive spells but when you're specced as healer/support...

I only like replaying the Fade through on a mage, otherwise it's just a chore. I really liked it on my first play through, but now it's something I try to get out of the way as soon as I can.

Part of it is the wonky picture, but I also miss having company. Plus I have to mark down the attributes as I get them, so I know I've collected them all. It's very much by the numbers. Which I suspect is down to the lack of interaction with anyone other than poor Niall in there.

I very much dislike the Spirit form as well, slooooooooow. :P

I remember after my first play through I'd been in there so long, (First time through took me AGES! :P) that I missed the form changing really badly for the rest of the Mages Tower and couldn't remember how to play without them!

very boring, I loathe the thought of replaying the game and having to go through it again.

You can skip side-quests in your future games and just bulldoze your way to the archdemon. Saves time.

Maybe if you aren't an obsessive completionist at least

I really liked the Fade the first time I played the game. I thought it was really interesting and quite creative. I enjoyed being able to change forms. It's the only type of puzzle I really enjoy in games.

Also, there is a mod to turn off the glow effect in the Fade here http://www.dragonage...s/file.php?id=5 That never really bothered me that much, but after an hour I started to feel like I was cross-eyed.

However, what did annoy me about the entire sequence is the fact that the way that I originally attempted to gather the allies I ended up getting sidetracked twice for hours each time. I generally hate it when an rpg won't let me decide where to go. When I left Lothering, it looked pretty open-ended.

Alistair seemed really bent on going to Redcliffe and I wanted to please him (for romance intentions of course), so I went there. Then, in order to do the good thing I HAD to go to the Circle tower. Then I HAD to go into the Fade and the first time it took me almost three hours. All I wanted was to get Redcliffe as my ally. And of course THEN saving Connor isn't even all you have to do to get Redfcliffe.

I know I just chose the wrong order, though... but it was slightly annoying.

I despised that section. It was boring, took way too long, and parts of it were ridiculously unfair and some that are based on pure luck. I just went through that part on my current playthrough and in one room there's three golems that would immediately all use hurl, which left me with about 10% health. The first time I walked in I didn't resist all the knockdowns, meaning they ran up and killed me. I had to just keep reloading until I resisted all three and was able to heal. Another time I got hit with a Curse of Mortality, which is a death sentence. It's like they didn't even think that you're doing it solo...

I havea erquest for anoyone that's palying the mage tower ATM.

If youre going to paly the Fade section, please write down your experience poitns and when you finish the Fade section, write the cirrent and substract.

I want to know exactly how much XP you cna get in the Fade, so I can make a "skip the Fade" mod(adding an option to resist the Sloths sleep spell things and kill him there)

I like the fade. It's probably the most original part of the game, which distinguishes it from the rest. Perhaps once solved it may seem like a chore to some players, but I like to play it again with the unique abilities in there and enjoy playing with them.

For those hating it, I'm sure someone will sooner or later create a mod for skipping it. If you play on console... bad luck. The game is better on PC anyway, even without custom content.

I just finished it, I wish I had read this earlier. However, I hope someone does this for you, while I'll be on the side-lines cheering you on.

I don't know why I don't like it, it has some neat things, like the shape-shifting, and general weirdness of non-reality, but still... Perhaps it is the blur. I didn't know about the option to turn it off, nor about the mod, so thanks for the heads-up.

I know that I can just skip the non-essentials, but I found out I'm rather compulsive early on in my gamer career. I try to skip them, honest I do, but it somehow never works. I guess I'm a completionholic.

It takes long, and you're alone, which is what makes it worst for me.
