Me too, OP!

As for the future, the galaxy is huge and still mostly unknown. I think there is still plenty of ways for the franchise to move forward.

I would personally love to see a trilogy from an older cycle. One where we all know very well that Repears will harvest thier cycle. It could make for an emotional epic to fight even though we know in the end, we will lose. Maybe even make the prothean cycle. I don't know, there so much they can do with it.

Don't see it happening but I like the thought.

While it's not my favorite game ever I really do like it. It's my top for 2012 and 2011.

Mass effect is my favorite trilogy series however.

If you think this is the best game in the series, never mind the best game you've ever played you must not understand story. Like, at all. Seriously, this had the most broken plot I've ever seen.

How anybody could call this a good game is beyond me, it's actually incomprehensible.

Funny how opinions work.

I haven't quiite decided if ME3's better than ME2 or not, myself. I'll have to do another trilogy run first.

Yeah it is a close call between ME 2 and ME 3 for me as well.  ME 2 was just really well made and in my opinion the most polished game of the series.  But then again ME 3 was the most intense game of the series that didn't let up.  Hard to say both games have their strengths.

It would be ME3's emotional pull that makes it take the lead. For example : When Grunt says he will stay behind and you first hear those few notes of the piano drop in... I literally called out "NO!" at that moment. No game has ever done that to me.

I'm not sure if I'm completely sold on the whole prequel idea... Having said that it would be pretty interesting to see another perspective of the Reaper war, and given that the Protheans were a lot more evolved than the current cycle, it could make things interesting.
To be honest, I'm just really happy there is actually going to be another Mass Effect game, regardless of where BioWare decide to set it!

But we have kind of lost in ME3 anyway...

I agree...ME3 is definitely the best game I've ever played...and of course the Mass Effect is the best series I've ever played...with ME1-3 being my top three games.

ME1-3 are my most favorite games. It's hard to tell which one is the best, though. I suppose ME3 would be the best of the trilogy for me if the ending was better.

For me, Mass Effect is the best game of the franchise due to its charm. However, I think ME3 beats ME2 any day, but that's not to say that ME2 isn't an amazing game that beats a lot of its competitors.

Still the best game ever I have ever played. I'm really intrested to see what Halo 4 will bring, but ME3 is still by far the best game I have ever played.

I hope I don't sound rude but would you mind explaining why?

The people who don't like the game tend to give a lot of reasons.

So I would be very interested to hear the reasons why from those who do like the game.

OP I'm glad you liked ME3 and I'm happy for you that ME3 is the best game you ever played.

As for me, well, I can name at least 10 games I find vastly superior to ME3. ME3 was not stunning in any single way and ME3's story/plot is among the worst stories/plots I've ever seen in video-game history. Really, it's that bad.

For those who liked it and consider it the best game ever. Good for you. I mean really honestly good for you. I'm glad you can enjoy it.

For those who feel obliged to attack, both the op and those that agree with the OP: grow up. Their opinion has nothing to do with you. The OP did not call people who didn't like ME 3 N00Bs or stupid. Or lacking in artistic taste. Kindly do the same or you just make yourself look bad.

That said. I do not share the OPs opinion. ME 3 killed my love for a game company that got me into consoles and drove the specs for my computer purchases.

The fact that Mass Effect 2 didn't have a plot, and Mass Effect 3's plot was utterly broken aren't opinions. They're objective facts.

Now, you can of course like Mass Effect 2 (despite not having a plot) or Mass Effect 3(despite the plot being a broken mess) the most, but you can only do so if you don't care about the games' story.

That's an "opinion", though a rather poorly formed one.

I absolutly hate when people spout opinion as fact. Me  2  was till Me 3 the best plot in the series and Me 3's was not broken imo. Just like what you stated was opinion.
Edit: op i agree completley

The problem with ME2 is not that it didn't have a plot, but that the plot was completely static. ME2's story didn't move the overarching plot forward in any meaningful way.

You can easily skip ME2 and directly go from ME1 to ME3, you won't be missing anything important, other than the introduction to a bunch of new characters and factions.

ME2's plot can be perfectly described with 1 single TV trope: Status Quo is God.

ME2 to me is more like an experimental subject. But still a very great game. The story is weakest in the trilogy, but characters are awesome.

I personally didn't like ME3 anywhere near as much as ME1 and while I didn't absolutely hate the game, is very far away from my favorite game.

What I don't get though is why people criticize players who liked the game, or even feel that it is their favorite game. If they were in turn criticizing those who hated it, then I guess I can understand...but the OP didn't do that. He simply praised a game that he loves.

Mass Effect 2 feels like a Monty Python-style completely unrelated intermission sequence. An intermission that tackles that most ageless of questions, "what if The Dirty Dozen was set in space?"

ME3's a servicable Gears clone with spellcasting provided you treat it's "story" in the same manner as a Ninja Gaiden game's(ie something to laugh at while enjoying the gameplay) and ignore the DA2 style no content FedEx quests.

But yeah, as a story and as an RPG this game's a total dud much like ME2.

I've finished ME1 more times than I care to remember and ME2 about a dozen times. I also read ME Revelation, and ME Ascension. (I haven't had time to read the third book written by Drew Karpyshyn yet.) And I believe that ME3 is a great game. Sure, there're some flaws in the plot, particularly the ultra-powerful Cerberus. (Nobody held Mac Walters on the leash I guess). But it once again features wonderful characters; it has a very interesting story, great graphics, and fantastic music. I hate the large amount of autodialogue, though. The decisions from the previous two games should've had more impact on the story, too. And I won't rather comment on the ending.

ME3 certainly had some of the best moments but its flaws were just far too huge. My favourite game ever? Elite.

It had some pretty great moments. Grunt cheating death, Thane's sacrifice, some of the old squadmate deaths and Shepard's sacrifice.

I disliked too much from the game to rank it as one of my top 10, though. I guess I'm glad that some people were able to look past its flaws (I did the same with ME1), but ME3 just wasn't done to my tastes.

ME1, despite all its flaws, spoke to me on a level that no other game (before or since) has. ME2 felt like a different experience, but still familiar. ME3 wasn't my cup of tea, unfortunately, so its flaws overcame my enjoyment. To each their own, though.

I'm having a hard time deciding between 2 and 3. After the reveal of the Retaliation DLC and the upcoming Omega DLC, I'm edging towards ME3.
