I felt the same about my "friends" when I got to the final rally in London. Stepping off the Normandy for the last time felt very sad even though I knew it was just a game. And then speaking to my squad mates at the FOB knowing that "my" Shepard wouldn't see them again or be with Garrus again made me feel quite emotional actually. Then seeing her all beat up and bloodied on the Citadel and watching Anderson pass away was extremely sad. Despite the flaws of that last mission, the game did deliver an emotional ending in many respects. The EC was much better too, as I got to see more of what happened to them all in the aftermath. BioWare did a nice job with the EC and I'm more than happy with what I've got for my money.
Hm, I certainly didn't fight that war to lose everything. When I left FOB, I was still hoping there would be a happy ending, like in ME1 and ME2. I don't know what the two writers were thinking. Had I known how terrible the ending would be, I would have never started running towards that bloody Conduit... Why can't there be a reunion ending in ME3? The so-called artistic integrity is a ridiculous excuse.

Good for you if you liked Mass Effect 3 though.
But seriously, if the game has affected you so much, you should cut down on playing games. It's not healthy.
Who are you, my mother?
Don't tell total strangers what to do with themselves. Specially online. You're rude.
People online tend to be rude and in all honestly he (or she) wasn't really being rude to you.

Anyway, I have very mixed feelings about ME3, much like I do about ME1 (but for entirely different reasons). ME2 was easily the best for me, despite (or maybe because) it being, as others in this thread have said, virtually plotless.

I don't think I'll ever get that argument. I don't see how ME2 is plotless at all. It has IMO a better plot than ME.Cthulhu42 wrote...

As for games as a whole. I don´t have a best game. But a lot of favorites...I could not decide which one is the best.
Monkey Island 2 ( the game helped me learn to read, I played it to death as a child)
Wing Commander 5 (despite its cheesiness)
Command & Conquer (looking back, so much cheese)
Mad TV ( probably nobody played outside europe and france)
and Portal 2 which i think has the best Script for a Video game ever written.
So for me, ME 3 would share the title of best game with those.
For the next One... I hope they go into the future and non military.
Maybe adventuring into a new galaxy. Whatever it may be I will play it.

ME 2 introduced characters like TIM, Legion, EDI and Mordin. Showed us how reapers are created and demonstrated how they plan to harvest organics, gave us insight to Krogan and Quarian politics and pretty much setup the Tuchanka and Rannoch arcs, forshadowed that TIM would be an antagonist in ME 3, Kept hinting at Cerberus's true nature etc.... You'd have to be blind to not acknowledge how crucial ME 2 was to the series.

It's basically a bunch of unconnected missions with the Collector thing loosely tying them all together. And the Collectors were pretty much a side mission that had nothing to do with the overall Reaper threat.Shepard108278 wrote...

I don't agree at all. ME 2 had a fantastic overacrching plot that tied into the central reaper plot nicely. At first it seemed like a side plot game but it revealed alot about the reapers and their invasion.Heretic_Hanar wrote...
The problem with ME2 is not that it didn't have a plot, but that the plot was completely static. ME2's story didn't move the overarching plot forward in any meaningful way.
You can easily skip ME2 and directly go from ME1 to ME3, you won't be missing anything important, other than the introduction to a bunch of new characters and factions.
ME2's plot can be perfectly described with 1 single TV trope: Status Quo is God.
By all means, tell me what ME2 revealed that is essential to the plot and isn't already revealed ME1 or later revealed in ME3. By all means, enlighten me.

I always thought that's what made it great. It shows us so much of the Galaxy and we get to learn so many new things about it. I think ME2 expanded the universe in a great way.

As far as a future trilogy goes... I dunno. I'd like to not see Reapers again as the big bad. In 1, Sovereign and Saren were the big bad, so Reapers. In 2, we took a side road and got Collectors (and mercs) for the big bad, even though Harbinger was pulling the strings, which was refreshing in my pov. Then, of course, in 3 you go back to Reapers for the big bad.
I'm not sure how you could top the Reapers. But I'm not a game designer.

ME3 ending sucks. And the game itself will be remembered because of it. Simply I feel rage when I think of it. Still cant get over it. Great game otherwise. F***ing ending.
I really don't think its healthy to obsess over an ending of a video game for months upon months.
Read a book, do some exersize, maybe take up painting. You'll get over it and your psyche will thank you.

If you think this is the best game in the series, never mind the best game you've ever played you must not understand story. Like, at all. Seriously, this had the most broken plot I've ever seen.
How anybody could call this a good game is beyond me, it's actually incomprehensible.
Funny how opinions work.
I haven't quiite decided if ME3's better than ME2 or not, myself. I'll have to do another trilogy run first.
The fact that Mass Effect 2 didn't have a plot, and Mass Effect 3's plot was utterly broken aren't opinions. They're objective facts.
Now, you can of course like Mass Effect 2 (despite not having a plot) or Mass Effect 3(despite the plot being a broken mess) the most, but you can only do so if you don't care about the games' story.
That's an "opinion", though a rather poorly formed one.
Objective facts?
They no longer exist.
People can now choose their own facts based on whatever they want.
I enjoy Mass Effect 3 despite it's story problems.
