Man, I was sure hoping this would work for me as well. But after doing everything suggested in this thread I am still getting the same error 36 when trying to install the patch. I did notice in the dos window when the update starts that many of the files it is copying over say already exist, some of them, but not all.

Ragicos solution worked for me too, so is this how BioWare/EA are running their games?

The community has to figure out obscure ways to get their crap to work? *Clap*

For anyone still having a problem with the patch this fix worked for me:

Look for a file called - designerscripts.rim

It should be located in your c:/program files/dragon age/packages/core/data

You can either move it to a different folder (recommended) or delete it, then you need to replace it with a new designerscripts.rim file.

As I had the digital download of the game I simply opened the .rar file and extracted the designerscripts file to the data folder, then ran the patch and it worked.

Apologies for anyone with the retail copy I am unsure how to find the file inside the disc as I do not own a hard copy.

Funziona perfettamente ;)

It works ;) Good Job!

thanks Ragicos.

I was trying to patch to 1.03 but I got error 36. used the designerscript.rim trick-

still no go - then I remembered someone (on windows 7, 64) said to first use 1.02a

patch then 1.03 (EA says you don't need earlier patches) and it worked. Playing good

so far.

None of the patches worked before I swapped out designerscript.rim

Install patch 1.02 first before 1.03. This worked for me on my Windows 7.

Success!!!

I too was having error 36 and error 9 on repeated attempts to install patch 1.03 and 1.02a, but I finally found a solution that worked. This was a bit odd, as it only occured once, but after one failed attempt I found an patch.err log at the root of the dragon age folder. The log stated that the install failed because it could not find a file (name of file does not matter) in Dragon Age\\modules\\single player\\data. I went to the install CD and found the file in the campaign.rar file and extracted it to the directory. After attempting the 1.03 patch, it failed again, so this time I extracted all files from campaign.rar\\modules\\single player\\data to the install directory Dragon Age\\modules\\single player\\data. After that I ran the 1.03 patch again and it failed again, so in disbelief I ran the patch again and found success. When you think about it, it makes sense that others are finding success after reinstalls of the application.

OK, I was getting same error and here's what I had to do.

Try and update, when it fails go to My Documents and look at the log txt file to see what file had problems. Go in C:/Program Files/Dragon Age and find this file. Delete it. Go on your CD or Download and find the same file, copy it to where you deleted the old one.

Try updating again...

Might have to do this a FEW times (took me replacing 27 files before it'd work). Just rinse, lather, repeat... you get the deal

Works for me. Thaks to all.

I had to install patch 1.02 fist, then extract all the files from installation CD at campaign.rar\\\\modules\\\\single player\\\\data and copy them on C:Dragon Age\\\\modules\\\\single player\\\\data, then run the patch and thats it... Works great!
