Well she did say the maker told her too help you. So maybe the Maker pulled a little ressurection on are poor warden.

Allthough the devs have said they won`t give us clear evidence of the maker actually excisting...

That's why Oghren mentions that the chamber of sacred ashes is filled to the brim with lyrium. Leliana is actually a particularly well preserved and coherent zombie.

That means everyone killed near lots of lyrium, most likely is alive. Branka springs to mind.

Did you dispose of the body? If not, get ready for a branka crazed golem army at some point.

Only a question:
Why do people call Leliana alive a "retcon"? A retcon is, when the author decides to change previous established story lore of a fictional universe, like the revival of Sherlock Holmes.

Or Lelianna.

Bfler wrote...
In my eyes, Leliana's death is only one possibility in Origins, which the authors decided to abandon, maybe because only a handful people choose it, but no retcon.

Did it happen?  Can you import a save where it happened?  Was it changed?  Retcon.  Whether it's a good retcon or a bad retcon depends on what, if any, explanation the devs give for it.  If they offer a plausible explanation that doesn't break the rules of the universe, good retcon.  If they offer no explanation at all and just ignore it, the "it never really happened" approach, or the explanation they offer makes absolutely no sense on any level, bad retcon.

It's still a retcon because it's changing what was established.  Lelianna was established as dead (if you killed her obviously) not left for dead, stone dead.  DA2 comes along and says, "no she wasn't," that's a retcon.  We aren't dealing with a single canon here, it'd be much easier if we were, so in those instances where Lelianna died her appearance is a retcon.

Just like Anders being a Warden and merging with Justice is a retcon if you never recruited either or both of them.  I don't have such a playthrough so I don't know what, if any, explanation is given for this.

She must have ditched my Warden that romanced her after he agreed to travel to Orlais with her at the end of Origins. How could she do this to me?

Possible, but I thought defiling the ashes tainted them and removed any sort of power they may have, as Kolgrim tells you to take a pinch of ashes before you pour the blood into the urn.

Defiling the ashes doesn't have anything to do with power from the Maker though. It's possible that her dream is a true vision from the Maker. The Maker doesn't want her dead because his plans for her go farther than traveling with a Warden. The Maker heals Leliana.

Yes, all speculation.

Maybe because Leliana is Dragon Age's Liara? Really, in DA2 she was almost everywhere!

in all truth, I think she have some important part in DA3. And she is a connection with the first game.

Ferelden is taken over and the protagonist flees to Orlais where he/she meets with Leliana. She found the plans to a device that can stop the mage/templar war and restore order to the world. They don't know how it works though and they're still missing one part...:?

I hope Leliana has a major role,i really like how her charather has developed. From a seductive assain/bard/minstrel/storyteller to a broken kind girl with great faith in the maker, and by the end of DAO,she finally figures what she wants from life, she is no longer broken, has accepted her faith in the maker but so as her bard fun side, then when she ''grows up'' she joins the seekers and now plays a major role in the DA universe...

@Heriocgreywarden
her character has definitely changed for the better but mostly because of the warden especially if you were involved with her, But no matter what you may think I believe she has a hidden agenda in DA3 and traveling around with the warden was just merely a means towards an end.

It also is implied, though not outright stated, that Leliana kills herself if her LI warden does the ultimate sacrifice. This is an ending that hit a lot of her fans very, very hard. Bringing her back takes away the power of that slide.

It's actually amazing that these scenarios affected people so deeply that they're still arguing about this several years after the original game came out.

At the moment she is the right-hand of the Divine of the Chantry. So I think we will see her in DA3.

Because it is more touching, when an emotional girl commits suicide, than maybe the (heroic) death of a man.
Similar example is the death of Tali in ME3.

checking kill list...
Wynne dead.
Shale dead.
Anders dead (happy smile)
Leliana dead.

i am sure she was dead, because two handed axe is bad for health, as well as raptured chest. I think she managed to survive some how, maybe she stole some ashes when i wasn't watching. So i guess it's my bad that she lives, i should fix that.

so she's the right hand of the divine she got what she wanted that would explain why her friend/lover is missing and she could really care less at least with morrigan what you saw is what you got.

I understand that they have -- that doesn't negate what I said.

People keep bringing up the decapitated thing, you do know there is no flag that says you lopped off her head right?

Well, the flag is called "AUTOSS_LEL_FIGHTS_PLAYER_OVER_URN" and it's a trigger for the fight (obviously) but there is a flag that does indicate that Leliana was killed.  Yes, it's in the notes that the warden kills Leliana.

It's really nothing I care about at this point.  It's a retcon, but the minute they said that the epilogues were just heresay and rumor, it took out a lot of the power of the story for me.  So there are retcons -- so what?  I still love the game, and hopefully I'll love DA3 as well.
