From what I gathered, Grey Wardens' children are effected by the Taint just like the Grey Wardens.
So, what about Alistair's children if he becomes King? Will they be effected too? How long will their life be? It sounded to me like Alistair wouldn't be able to produce heirs that live long enough.

No, Grey Warden's children don't have the taint. The Lead Writer, David Gaider has confirmed it.
The only side-effect of Alistair's taint is that it is more difficult for him to have children, but it is still possible.

There was a topic about this a very long time ago.
According to David Gaider a child between two Grey Wardens is impossible. It could perhaps be done with magic, but ther are no records of two GW getting a child.
A child between a GW and a normal person is highle unlikely, but still possible. The child will live a normal life and not bear the taint.
