They were the most useless feature. They didn't even have a high value. It was so infuriating to loot a chest to discover that I found a moth-eaten scarf. Dafuq was that for?

I love your Merrill banner, do you have a link?

The junk items were designed to flesh out the loot, its not like you had to pick up most junk items and you could destroy them. Frankly they were needed to flesh out the inventory in DA2, if it had been more like DAO where you could get more regular gear to fill those spots it would not be needed. I personally don't care either way if the items go or stay, they resulted in more gold for me so meh. Its not a major concern.

Only if by "regular gear" you mean "elfroots and deep mushrooms"

chests in DA:O contained those items, which they made useless in DA2, however I used to find a number of weapons and armor that were of no use to me as well.  Ya they had some junk items still but they were few compared to other items you would find and routinly make your money off of.

I think they should keep the junk items, because otherwise, we would have to rely on completing quests with big gold payouts. It wouldn't make much sense to be given 10+ sovereigns for a quest, or to find so much lying around. They could always just lower prices of items, but then they might have to change what it means to be rich in the DA universe, in terms of how many sovereigns you have.

Junk makes it feel like there is actually stuff in the world, however in caves it just seems pointless/redundant.

OP obviously never had the joy of surreptitiously pulling out a pair of Torn Trousers or an Empty Stained Bottle from a dusty abandoned wooden box in a dilapidated street corner.

...and is obviously unaware of the thriving market for moth-eaten scarfs. :D

agreed, not sure what they were aiming for with that

They could fix this problem easily by just renaming the tab from "junk" to "baubles" or "trinkets" or "gewgaws".  Hell, even just "miscellaneous".

But you knew not to throw it away because it said Sten's sword and was labeled as a gift.

The point is it should not be labeled Sten's sword. The warden has no idea if the Qunari sword found was Sten's it could have been one of his brethren. So the warden should have been able to sell it or show it to Sten for identification. Bioware protected the sword by labeling it Sten's sword and making it unsellable until after the warden presents it to Sten.

And what about all those daggers, leather armors, etc you picked up in DAO?
After 2 hours of gameplay that too was just junk.

But sure, I agree that I like more to pick up actual items then trash.

They should add crafting and salvaging.

Yeah. Not to sound like Whitney Houston, but I was not a fan of the junk. (And unlike Houston, I actually mean that. Also it was crack, not heroin. I digress...)

I'd like more money please. :)

Give this thread a bump!!

I like the Junk Category in the inventory. Moving weak weapons and armor to be sold with one button is awesome, and you can use the buy back / sell back if you made mistakes. They should get rid of junk items, and make it the "For Sale" Category.

Junk items are ridiculous.

Someone mentioned otherwise there would be "big gold payouts....10+ sovereigns for a quest".... huh??? One extra gold would be worth more than 100 pieces of random 'junk' items. "I know we are in this cave fighting giant spiders on our way to save someone, but let me look in this pile of rubble. HEY!! A wet pouch of incense! You know this is worth 3 copper. Let's hang on to this."

If there is no purpose in the game, there is not point to have it in the game. It's just annoying. ME3 cut the junk out, and it was fine! Better even. There are people who pick up pieces of junk they come across... they are called hoarders and it's a sickness. Not something a great warrior needs to do.

The thing I hate most in Skyrim is accidentally picking up pots and bowls and taking up inventory space. It's obnoxious. Potions, Armor, Weapons and Coin. That's all I need, that's all I want.

I'd rather look at the stats myself to decide if something is junk.
