If you like more revealing, or less revealing, outfits you should be able to find an outfit for each character that is to your liking.

^^^THIS!
Dress to you own taste. (I modded my Femshape to have Miranda oufit because I liked her clothing :))
I like my characters to wear stylish or attractive looking clothes then piles of armor thats not even nice looking <_<
I'm shallow like that but different types of clothing makes the game more interesting and fun. ;)

And yet Isabela still forgets to pack a pair of pants when visiting the Deep Roads

At any rate, it appears (to me) less jarring to see a character wearing something that looks at least moderately protective in "day to day" situations than someone wearing casual clothes in what looks like a warzone.

And I fully believe armor can look both attractive and protective.  Sexiness isn't all about showing skin.  Shape and form factor into things just as much.  Heck Cassandra looked quite attractive and she was in full armor in every scene she appeared in DA2.

Indeed. I find Cassandra in her armour ten times sexier than Isabela in her outfit. And I find Merrill's romance outit a lot more attractive than her normal one /aside from the overly long neck, I guess). And Leliana looks a lot better in some good looking heavy armour (or even good looking light armour that doesn't have plunging neckline) than in the more revealing outfits like the Dalish leather armour.

In all honestly, my reaction to those two pictures of fantasy game men was pretty much "...Eww." And I am attrracted to men. And certainly don't say no to the occasional fan service.

If isabella was dressed the way she does in non-combat and in private, I would have no problem. But contextually, her outfit in combat, even for a rogue, is absolutely absurd.

Please don't try to twist my argument of context, it's quite clear if you put common sense into it.

I for one am curious to what your common sense tells you how seafaring adventurers/pirates/rogues should be dressed for combat.

What I posted were robes/clothes not armor. I said I would like to see sexy robes/clothes, basically for mages.

No fat chicks huh? How about no beards? Beards are gross.

(If men with beards are offended, now you know how "fat chicks" feel.)

I feel like I'm being pandered to as if I am the biggest basement dwelling, socially challenged, internet fiend piece of crap whenever I see a game that puts skimpy characters into the cast.

This is even worse when the game makes an effort to put voyueristic shots of these characters into the game. Like Miranda's absurd bum shots - seriously what the hell?

DA2, at least, had some very practical armor sets for people like Femhawke and Aveline, if this extends to all of the characters in the next game I will be VERY pleased.

Here's my solution:

If the game manages to NOT embarass the player whenever a non-gamer sees them playing around those characters, then you probably have done a decent enough job.

Obviously sex scenes and other contextually appropriate moments could have nudity or underwear or whatever, but those are easily explained, rather then pandering towards notions of player pervesity.

P.S. you all might say "but miranda and isabella's design suited their character! so its okay" - oh yeah? then bite me, there is no reason the character design couldn't reflect their characters without being skimpy and impractical.

In closing, I think my point is that we have all grown up since the old days and we'd like to see that reflected in DA3.

Clearly we have not grown up enough...

Look, your most egregious example of oversexualisation being Isabella's or Miranda's outfit or camera treatment is hardly unique to dragon age... Compared to other media, it is actually pretty tame. So I think your worries concerning gamer embarassment are more a problem with gaming in general than oversexualisation.

Anyway, please explain to us how your modesty crusade differs to the brave efforts of the Iranian cultural police who enforce strict dress codes on their women citizens?

You should have known someone I knew once who believed that the very concept of shaving was a feminist conspiracy to make men be less masculine.

Is it possible that you have self-esteem issues? In general, I see the content of a film, book, game, or TV show as speaking to the creator's interests. I don't see them as speaking specifically to me.

HOW ABOUT ACTUAL MATURE CONTENT INTSEAD OF CHILDISH PANDERING!?

Your use of ALL CAPS WITH BOLD assures me that you're a mature individual who can discuss content issues in an adult manner.

Awww, how adorable! A knight in shining armor for the fat chicks. Gonna need a strong back and one hell of a strong horse to sweep them off their feet, though.

The only difference between a bearded man and a fat chick is, of course, a five minute bathroom trip can make the beard dissapear. :o

Miranda's design was fine it was just the awful ass shots whenever you'd talk to her. I don't get offended by females with sexy designs but when you put the camera in front of her butt during a conversation it seems very derogatory and reinforces the stereotype of men not paying attention to woman's face while she speaks.

I had no problem with Isabella, she didn't get especially bad camera angles and her character was "Likeable pirate ****" her outfit accurately reflected that. Also, Isabella needs no pants.

However, I think we should get more males with equally skimpy outfits, though Jacob's outfit is just as skintight as Miri's. I think you just need to grow up and not be offended by characters with good looking outfits.

Bloody hell,

Obesity is not something to be celebrated but overweight people already know that... and demeaning them further is inhuman.

Miranda's clothing was fine, blame it on the camera shots more than the clothes.

Isabela's clothes were fine for a swashbuckling pirate that fights with agility.  The only gripe you can truly have for her is the lack of pants.

I think sexy clothes are fine on characters as long as it isn't their armor unless it's in the case that it would interfere with their fighting style/career like it does for Isabela.

ME3 did get it right that you had the option to put the women characters in combat armor to make it more realistic.

Put some pants on, wear some arm guards and bracers and don't have their boobs hanging out.

Impractical and clearly a design catered towards base sexual attraction, rather then characterization.
