I mean KOA was just as much an RPG as Dragon Age if a bit more towards Diablo style loot collection...
Yay or nay?

As much as I want to jump in video games, I want Dragon age 3 to keep its gameplay style.

What exactly would we lose by going in that direction? Less emphasis on stats on more on skill?
We would lose combat being determined by character skill.

I wanted DA2 to keep the system from DAO. I loathe the gameplay in DA2.

I think it's a great idea and the natural next step if Dragon Age wants to have visceral, in-your-face combat.

Just don't expect this idea to get much support around here.

Don't see why not Amalur's combat was pretty much a better DA2.

KoA actually did a very good job with an action combat system, while DA2 did a ******-poor hybrid system.

That'd be fun, as long as it's optional. A lot of DA fans prefer tactical combat. I like the KOA style, myself, but I don't mind being an advocate for the hardcore tactical crowd.

No one should take direction from Bayonetta. On anything. For any reason. Ever. Period.

However, don't expect this to get much support on the BSN. Many people here are operating under the belief that learning combat mechanics from action games that are devoted to delivering the best combat possible is somehow sacrilege. They consider a game to not be a "True Rpg" unless the combat is slow and clunky. Origins failed miserably at being tactical and 2 went for a smoother, more actiony approach. If you can't make the combat tactical, I don't see a reason not to make gameplay better as an action game other than trying to figure out how party members would work.
Remember that Mass Effect's combat was far better when it stopped trying to be a shooter-rpg hybrid and became a shooter with RPG elements.

If they're going to keep DA2 style of combat, may as well take notes from a game that did it pretty well.

Companions and control over them in combat would be the main thing. Companions in KoA were both temporary and useless.

They were also pretty useless in the more action-oriented Jade Empire. I suppose the best system would be to bring companions up to the power level of the PC and allow free switching between them.

Who am I kidding? Dragon Age is always boring. Oh, did I just say that out loud? Whoops.

You are kidding yourself.

Imagine doing that to an Ogre in Dragon Age 3?
Positively mouth watering. It's a fantastic place to look at if you want to improve and lead classic RPG combat away from the Dark Ages.

As for taking queues from Bayonetta....I know DA isn't a series based in reality, and I certainly don't play it for realistic combat, but that's just a bit too fantastic and over the top imo.
