 I want to get all of the conversations that I can with Sten, which means I have to wait for him to say something at random while walking around.  However, I can't seem to trigger the dialogue in front of the chantry in Redcliffe.  Is there any way to trigger this?  I enter the chantry.  I leave the chantry.  I run around in front of the chantry.  I do laps around the village.  And still nothing.  I tried looking on the wiki but it wasn't any help.

Are you referring to the random party banters? If that is so, then you may consider checking out this mod from dragon age nexus.

I'm not on a PC. And I guess it's technically about the banters. Sten has to say a line at random in order for you to open up the conversations about things that he said. I've unlocked the one about kids and about mages, but I can't get the chantry one to unlock.

Oh. Okay, have you tried going straight after exiting the chantry, past where Murdock is standing, till you reach the edge of the lake. I think there is a triggering point for random party banters.

I think it only triggers the first time you step out of Redcliffe's chantry.

I've had him in my party the whole game.  Oh well.  I also didn't get his remarks in the forest, so I guess there's nothing I can do about it.

Strange...i was about to open a thread how i can make Sten shut up !
I'm sick and tired listening to his whining if i'm a warden or not? every time i go to camp.
Well not every time but every 2nd time.
