Awkward moment when New Game Plus is mistaken for a solely Mass Effect feature.
LOL exactly. The first game I think of when I hear NG+ is actually Batman Arkham City for some reason...

DA combat is pretty boring with only one ability - it kind of makes sense as newbie handholding, but I don't need that any more. But I also don't want to start out with a godlike awesome character with all the best loot from the start - that probably doesn't really make sense.

This would have totally made sense, because Varric begin's the fake story with Hawke wearing the Mantle of the Champion armour!katatafish wrote...
Yeah, this is a feature I would've liked to have seen in DA2, since you only get to have the Champion's Armor for a short amount of time. It would have been nice to play through the entire game again with it if you were so inclined.
Also, Hawke automatically has skills that would normally take like 5 levels to get (OK, so maybe only 2 levels to get, such as Explosive Strike for rogue Hawke.
As for the New Game + I love the idea purely for the fact that the whole game might take half the time or less to complete anyway. And it would mean that you can have all 3 specialisations for your chosen class and most every other spell or talent possible by the end of the second game. Even everything by the end of a third game (or by half of the 3rd game).

For me (sorry for the double post) it would be Final Fantasy X-2. I actually thought NG+ was a strictly Asian game feature, or a Final Fantasy only feature. I didn't know ME had it.TsaiMeLemoni wrote...

you should know its more of a Square-Enix feature, since its was also in Chrono Trigger and Cross but the Tales of series also has it, but thats alittle different than how Square does it.
i think it should be done like Tales where you select special features that you can buy(probably with money you have left over) cause i do remember that they have features which makes it more difficult and then there some that makes it easy, then theres stuff that lets you carry over things, and Tales always restarts your level.

I like the idea of getting to keep using a high-level party, but itemization concerns me in games with specific, story-supported items. I think it would feel cheesy and a little disjointed for newbie PC to start out the game with "Legendary King Pwnsit's Godcleaver of Awesomeness" only to have the first mini-boss drop something generic and statistically superior. I'd almost prefer the PC's inventory and equipment not export to a NG+; instead they'd start with 'inflation-adjusted' lowbie gear and work back up to awesome loot. When the items feel like part of the story, to me it just doesn't feel right having them prematurely.
I can totally understand that, although it doesn't matter too much to me. Starting the original Mass Effect with Spectre Master Gear in my New Game + wasn't too much of an issue for me personally.
But a stats/ability-only NG+ as you suggested would be totally fine with me.

Yah know which game totally SHOULD have had one? Dishonored. That game was totally made for a NG+ in mind.

I have it the opposite way, stats/abilities is what destroys new game plus for me, and it is as tied to the story as items. It would not feel right to start at level 24 with two specalizations, all those abilities and +50 in magic, when you are a newbie.
Now if we got to simply carry over the characters look and start at a slightly higher level (perhaps 5) it would be fine with me then I could tolerate the feature.
But if we end up having all the abilities in game, the whole point of the level up system goes away for me.

It would also be a good fit because more opportunity for re-playability, not to mention more efficient in maxing out your character. I got my Warden to about 34 with DLC and I completed a good chunk of the missions, if not all of them.

Export your character at any point, and the NG+ part is from importing them at character creation, instead of just selecting NG+ and selecting a savegame to load from.
I wouldn't mind a NG+ option at all.
It would allow for exploring different choices during the game, with your preferred character and maybe some choices that weren't available because of a lack of required level in skills/stats.
Wouldn't stop me from creating different character/class/gender combos either. I'll still NG+ them too!

I'd like one where I'm not forced to play the same character. I'll probably want to change my PC's appearance when I start a new playthrough. Hell, playing the game differently is the whole point of a new game for me.
