Well, the title says it all. The Dead Trenches are inaccessible to me. I read Branka's diary, and nothing shows up on the map when I leave the Crossing from the Western exit. This is essentially a game-breaking bug as I already completed the Circle, Redcliffe, and Elf quests, so the Dwarves were the last step for me. Very disappointing.

I just had this problem and through enough running around found that there is a way to walk to the Dead Trenches from a spot a little northwest of where you found the book. You have to go through that before you can go to it through the cross...poorly written quest text ftl.
