Meist_chef, at least with someone like that you know what you are getting. I'd rather acknowledge someone that is honest (even if always negative), than to acknowledge 2-faced snakes in the grass. I think it is hypocritical.

As a developer I think they'd rather see these so-called "2-faced snakes" because they provide some kind of feedback:
- if the game features something new or something they wanted, they approve
- if the game has something they wanted fixed and it isn't, they whine

Being negative all the time means there's no valuable feedback from them at all, because no matter what you do this group remains dissatisfied, eg:
- if the game features something new or something they wanted, they whine
- if the game has something they wanted fixed and it isn't, they whine

Are you seriously telling me you'd rather have the 2nd group of people?

No, I'd rather not be around either, but unlike me, BW seems beholden to please even these most undeserving people from etiher control group.

If a significant portion of your customers are pissing you off, you have only a few real choices:
- suck it up and try to please them and stay in business
- tell them to f off; get out of the business

OR make the game that you want to make, and let your true fans support you. Tell the others to **** off.

How does one identify these "true fans"? What are their characteristics? Please define.

do you guys not notice a pattern???

Op makes post complaining about those who disagree with him
those who disagree with him laugh
those who agree with op about not liking complainers, complain, on a thread that is about complainers in the first place.
its a vicious circle of flaming that will never end.

Well I was going to go to bed, but I can't sleep knowing that somebody on the internet doesn't like me.

Anyway, if you love something you should criticize it because you love it.

Honestly I think the negativity and criticism with the Mass Effect fans boils down to the fact that it is an RPG community. I go to other forums and NOT ONE PERSON complains about DLC being available on day one where in this community everyone had themselves a sissy fit over it.

it is the BSN.....

the BSN should not be representative of the Mass Effect fan community. The BSN is just the portion of the fan community that chooses to participate in forum discussions on BW's site.

People are hardest on the things they love. They wouldn't be here if they actually hated the game. If they are, then have have some issues.

I don't like you guys, well at least most of you. What I have noticed about the people on this site, is that you guys are so cynical, so overly critical of everything BW does, it really is something that annoys me to no end about RPG fans in general. The attitudes on this board are terrible, but here's the kicker. AS SOON as BW announces something or anything you remotely approve of, you do a complete 180 and become the biggest nutswingers the galaxy has ever known.

Its no wonder Bioware devs have had enough of you clowns, talk about some two-faced people. BIOWARE DOESN'T OWE ANY OF YOU A DAMN THING. So get that in your head. Thank you.

quit your whining....THERES REAPERS THAT NEED KILLING!..EITHER  WEAPON UP FALL IN LINE OR GET THE HELL OUTTA THE WAY!..

Cynicism isnt a bad thing. Blindly following along with something is.
Technically bioware owes everyone who still dislikes their game money. I got...enough enjoyment out of it that i consider it a non-issue though.
Me, i generally haven't approved of most of their actions for the past couple months. I mean Leviathan DLC? Come on. Crappy Extended Cut. *facepalm*

I haven't criticized the DA guys because they at least seem to be learning from the mistakes of others. Asking questions and so forth.
But criticism isn't a bad thing. If a game is so utterly broken, you should let the people who made it know. If something is wrong, let them know, if something makes you physically ill, let them know. At the end of the day, a game is a product, if that product sucks, no one will buy it.

Generally those who are passive aggressive are not the cynics, but the rabid fans who still cling to what bioware was, while not acknowledging the truth.

This is bull**** for the most part. Some of the statements I've seen and the negativity towards this series and BW as a whole is not being critical, it is being a worthless piece of ****.

Bioware doesn't owe them a damn thing, fact. That is the problem with consumers. If you don't like the product fine, return it, don't support the future product. However it is not beholden to the manufacturer to continually try to gain your approval of said product you hate.

I understand that criticism is important, but that is only structured constructive criticism. Not destructive critisms.

@Lazurukeel, because I can be. I'll leave when I damn well get ready thanks.

It seems like the problem you have is with Bioware/EA then.

Bioware/EA can choose to react anyway it wants to with the customer base it has.

I'm not complaining about people on here, in most cases the majority of people here are quick to point out things that need fixing and the devs notice which if anything makes my gaming experience improve. So most of their criticism I'm actually thankful for!

Hey, I can see why you think that. Not everyone here is a douche thou, just about 50% most likely.

But I can understand why someone would critizise the ending of ME3 for example, because they wanted to love it, but they couldn't...

...hah weaklings, I found a way to love it anyhows! YES! I'm the best and all who hated it are weak! :wizard:

OP, you do know products are made FOR consumers right?

Dare I say TAILORED....SPECIFICALLY... for consumers...

We give Bioware money. They get paid. They make more stuff. If we don't like it, yeah we'll return it, but they WANT us to like it. If we don't like it, they're not happy, cos we're not buying it.

My impression is that this is not something typical for the "people on this site", but for humans in general.

Everyone has the urge (and yes I notice that on myself, too) to search for something to criticize and "prove wrong", etc., if it's not perfectly fine for them. It's a matter of reason and maturity to fight that urge, sit back a moment and say "wait a minute, is it really bad? Or are things just a little more complicated than I thought?"

Good news is:
a) There are many people who find things good or even very good in the long run (even among the cynicals). There must be, otherwise no one would be playing this game :D
B) Sometimes, the critcism is even right and leads to an improvement. It's like the opposition in a parliament: They are annoying and cynical, but the drive the government to keep up the pace and continue struggling for improvment..

So when I see the childish flames (about the oh so hard Geth, about ugly volus, even against(!) regular content updates - made me laugh very hard btw.), I just roll eyes, think "omg, children..." and go on.
Try it that way. Makes much less hassle. :D

Well, eventually I am going to have to retire within the next hour or so, so I will say that I do not mean to throw all of BSN into the same barrel. There are some good people here, but there are also alot of ****ty human beings here as well. Those that are deserving of praise are not my enemies.

Oh, the white knighting is almost blinding in this thread.

If only the people who worked at Bioware were grown adults that could handle criticism and defend their own thoughts, so OP wouldn't have to take on the burden.

If it was, then you'd be asked: "What kinda game you want" and then they would make the game excactly for your wishes. But they didn't, as it was produced to masses.

It's mass product, not tailored. And I think it sold enough.

...yeah it's not a good excuses for some blunders, but the point is, it's impossible to please everyone and not everyone was screaming for bloody murder. Most people who weren't were propably scared off by people who didn't like what Bioware had done with the game.
