Does blocking users actually do anything?

I would like that we can suggest that the 'block' function works to this method in the same manner you appear it to want to.

Side note - thanks for the heads up Sir Ulrich!

So it looks like it pretty much does the reverse of what most people want, but it's still useful in some circumstances; though personally I'd prefer the version of "block user" that makes certain other contributors just "disappear".

Block them from seeing our stuff whilst at same time allowing us to not see the pointless stuff they are posting?
Any chance a mod can confirm if what we are asking for is impossible or not?

Especially if you made it so that we cannot see their topic titles either!

To expand on my initial idea, I was wondering if it is possible so that other than just rubbing out what people say in a post, it also completely removes any topic titles of people we ignore from showing up. This I believe could help stop people from seeing anything spoilerific

In the Steam forums, if you put an offender in the block list, anything they "contribute"(blargh) gets instantly minimized, in this way you still see their name, but not their input.

Surely it can't be too hard to implement if other forums have this?
Any chance of someone telling us if it is possible.

It would be nice if the powers that be, took this into consideration and allowed us to COMPLETELY block ..in otherwords ignore the miscreant perpetrating these things on us.
Personally if I don't like someone..I don't message them..and I don't bother with them. But there are some out there that think differently and because its the internet...figure they can get away with stalking someone to their heart's content...in this sort of atmosphere.
It took me three complaints the first time, to have my case looked into..and these were direct messages to a forum mod. This should be an automatic thing...it shouldn't be that we have to put up with being slandered, harrassed..and in one case leered at..(several times)
Please do something about this..Bioware.

Again..is someone going to make this ignore feature work like it should? At least if someone is stalking you..you can ignore anything said to you in public or private. I have had at least 2 possibly three episodes of this on these forums, due to how often I post. And as I tend not to post things that match the "status quo"..I end up with that sort of result.

QFT it would be nice even if someone were to acknowlege that it isn't possible, although I would be curious as to why not, specially as surely the argument then would be "Why have a button to indicate you want to block someone then?"
