As games have become more advanced and have included more large-memory elements, such as cinematics or voiced audio, games have grown in size, which has outpaced the disc storage capacity technology. As a correlary, multiple discs are required for console versions of games and hanging said discs is a necessary evil.

So... Bioware, please... in the name of all that is holy... apply some logic to what content is on what disc.

Mass Effect 3 did a TERRIBLE job of this, with the first disc holding much of the story for the first half of the game and (inexplicably) the ending of the game, while the second disc had content for the second half of the game... and ALL THE SIDEQUESTS.

This, on paper, maybe doesn't sound that bad. Especially for sidequests that can be done at any time, why not have them on one disc?  The problem is that 90% of the time, a player will do a sidequest not long after they are given it.

My experience with ME3 was constantly flipping between discs the first twenty hours of the game, which was a serious pain given that my discs had trouble reading when they were first out in. It basically resulted in me sitting by my console, ejecting and reloading the disc three or four times every time a disc switch was required.

So - if multiple discs are required for DA3, please try and use some common sense when deciding what goes on which disc. The more segregated the two can be, the better.

I love how they purposely place the beginning half and then the finale on the first disc so even if you were half way through the game and you scratched disc on, you can't beat it.

I play DA on PC, but I played ME on Xbox. Constant disc changing is a pain in the rear and there were times I'd just stop playing ME3 because I didn't want to swap discs for the 10th time. Swapping isn't quite as bad on PC since I (and likely most others too) am sitting within arms reach of the tower instead of across the room, but it's still annoying on the few games I've played on PC that required disc swaps to continue. If multiple discs are absolutely necessary they should be made so that the player makes as few disc swaps as possible.

I don't care much about changing disk, but I agree that they should make the disk swapping more logical.
In ME2 you have to change the disk only two times, as far as I recall. I think that if the number of time you have to swap disks is the same as the number of the disks, it'd be acceptable by almost everyone.

Precisely. Two discs, two changes. That would be ideal.

At least give us console owners the option when we install the game on the console hard drive to cover the things such as side quests or other items that would require switching the disc. If the side quest is on Disc Two, but I am on Disc One (but have both discs installed on the hard drive), it would be nice to not require the disc change for just that one quest.

Signed. Disc swapping blows. Especially if you're like me and enjoy having a drink or twelve while you play. If I've got to register my copy or something so that once I've installed it, I don't have to swap discs anymore, so be it. I register, BW can send me a code to unlock the feature for my account and everyones happy.

Awkward moment when I misread disc as.... something else.

Um.

Anyway, I agree!
