Seeing that my system is getting a bit long in the tooth, I'm worried about how much of a jump up from DA2's system requirements will there be? (Talking about the PC version, of course)

Had no trouble at all running DA2, but with every new game, I'm eying the requirements very carefully. So, any ideas on what the requirements are going to look like?

I seriously doubt we will hear anything on this for at least another six months. But if I had to guess, I'd say if your PC can run ME3 max, it will probably have no problem running DA3.

The PC market stagnates since a while, because almost all games are developed for the old consoles and PC is the fifth wheel. And if there isn't a new type of consoles next year, I think, you don't have to worry about requirements.

I'd say Bioware has done an excellent job of making their recent games highly optimized to run well even on weaker PCs and laptops. However, DA3 might require higher specs than previous games such as ME3.

My understanding is that the game will launch in Q4 2013, around the same time as the PS4 and Xbox720, so it's quite possible it will launch on next gen consoles.

That sounds good to me! :wizard:

Hope you're right.

As for ME3, I can run it fine, but haven't tried max settings, and would suspect that my trusty ol' comp would stutter at that.

i hope the requirement will not be too high...why when there is new game released we have to buy new hardware? There is a conspiracy here....

Considering the frostbite engine is a very demanding engine...some problems might arise. Also, if DA3 is anything like DA:O then it will be CPU heavy, as well as GPU heavy...

I'm not worried about the CPU requirements - I think my computer fares well enough on that front. My bottle neck is my graphics card, namely that my motherboard only has AGP, and it's an AGP card. The best card that you can find for AGP, but still AGP.

You found DA:O to be demanding?

It ran fine for me on a really crappy Compaq CQ50-104NR dual core laptop with one of the worst graphics cards available, Nvidia 8200M and the Athlon X2 QL-60 CPU. Later when I upgraded to a better laptop with i7-820QM and AMD 5830m, I was able to play at 1080p.

DA2 and ME3 also ran great on my laptop at 1080p, although there was significant slowdown in DA2 during cut scenes with a lot of fire in the background.

Generally, Bioware's last several games run really well on weaker PCs, especially compared to Witcher 2 for example, which is barely playable on my laptop even after reducing the resolution to 720p.

I hope they will push the graphics as far as possible. Something closer to BF3, when they already using the engine after all.

We could get hairs flowing with air, constructions and props being blasted away by force spells (like fireball) and more destructible enviroment, better character animations - both in dialogues and in bed, better combat effects and much more detailed models and textures.

^ As long as all that extra fluff can be switched off, to run the game on lower end setups.

Graphics has always been near the bottom of my priority list for games, and doubly so now when I have to worry about whether my system will run the game or not.
