So yeah, I figured a reinstall would fix that, but trying to reinstall after uninstalling, the installer says it is corrupted and to contact you (Bioware) for a solution.

Aww, you moderators here are so friendly and helpful, it's a joy to stay on these forums! </big *bleep*ing sarcasm>
We moderators are just gamers like you, who have been asked to help with discussions on the forums. We are neither employees of Bioware nor Electronic Arts, and we are certainly not employed by either unit's tech support staff. Those folks can be contacted at help.ea.com.
There *are* resources on this forum to assist you in troubleshooting this, however. First and foremost are the sticky posts pinned to the top of this very forum. Looking there, you'll find a link to this page:
http://social.biowar...8/index/9302094
...which discusses, among other things, ways to deal with reinstalling the game and PhysX problems. You'll also see links in my sig to a guide on doing a clean uninstall/reinstall of your video display driver in safe mode, and a link to the old "Solutions Round-up", which includes a links on how to manually uninstall and reinstall the game.
Finally, if you would like help from fellow gamers in this forum, it is most efficient to provide complete details about your system. That's why the needed information (and how to find it) is spelled-out in the "Read First" sticky pinned towards the top of this forum.
Best of luck,
RI

Thank you, that's very helpful! I couldn't find anything useful among the stickies and didn't know which keywords to search for.
Also, I didn't add any system information, because it is completely irrelevant to a corrupted disk.

I know. I've been a moderator on a different site myself, and I know how hard it can be to be a good mod. This also isn't the first time I've felt frustrated at the mods here, or I wouldn't have reacted like that. That said, I found it very helpful to keep a ready access to any useful links for people with problems so you can give them. A file with several bbcode url links would do the trick nicely.

This has worked for me; but might not work for everyone; just a suggestion.

I had to uninstall the game because I had been playing around with an nVidia graphicscard (I have a Radeon HD5770) and the game no longer wanted to boot because now that I put the one I actually use back in, the physXloader.dll file is no longer there.
...

I can't speak for the installer issue, though Lady Juliet makes a good point to use CCleaner to clean the registry. Also make sure any vesitages of the game have been removed after you uninstall but before you reinstall (e.g. files created under your "My Documents" in XP or "Documents" in Win7, as well as the files for the game installed to the C: drive).
However, the "missing physXloader.dll" file error is not a corrupted disk issue. If you need evidence, here it is:
"9) I get an error saying I need to install PhysX. What do I do?
PhysX is required to play Dragon Age: Origins and the game should install it if needed. You can also install it manually by downloading and running the stand-alone installer from Nvidia’s website: http://www.nvidia.co...513-driver.html
For Steam users, you may have to manually move the PhysX loader from the default installation folder (C:\\Program Files (x86)\\NVIDIA Corporation\\PhysX\\Common) into the Steam game folder (D:\\...steam..\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship\\).
Note: Even if you have an ATI graphics card, you’ll need PhysX to run the game. DAO forces PhysX to run on the CPU, not on the graphics card."
I hope now it's clear that the physXloader.dll file isn't installed by Dragon Age Origins. These two threads are good places to start for ideas of how to solve your issue.
My own advice? Try reinstalling the drivers for your videocard. Here is 5770's product page, which has a link to follow to download the drivers. Also, as stated, nVidia's PhysX software is necessary to run DA:O. Did you uninstall that when you switched cards? I thought the need for it was odd, too. But I used to have an ATI HD 4890 and the game required me to have it installed even then. So, yeah, you may need to reinstall it, too.
Good luck.
