Simple reason why there will be four of them. If bioware created models specially for these guys they want them to be used. Having one volus only would be a waste of hard work. Having 4 different classes ensures they will be used and the hard work of creating the model has more payoff.

To be fair... they generally give us one of each class. 16 is a weird number. 12 would be two of each class. Remove the Volus, and you have 2 adepts, 1 soldier, 2 engineers, 1 sentinel, 2 infiltrators, and 1 vanguard. We only see 13 classes, so we're definitely missing 3. If we have 1 soldier, sentinel, and vanguard missing, then we'll get up to 2 in each class.

People might be right. They could totally be joke classes. It would make sense.

Thier either normalor special classes for the hardcore. We are not gonna get another difficulty i think. The volus might be a class that can only take two direct shots before a round game over. Would add an extra challenge. Imagine beating plat like that lmao.

You people will believe anything. The volus are a place holder. It's pretty much for situations like this. Bioware knows we are all snoops, so they left false positives around.

I don't care for the volus perse, though i am very interested in how they will work. Anyway, point is you might call them stupid for it but there are a lot of players who do want the volus. They prolly think this is biowares best move ever. What i'm trying to say here, that is just your opinion. Calling them stupid or whatever isn't gonna change anything. I do think that it is unfair though that people blast them so fast withouth giving them a chance to explain themselves. They might turn it into something really cool.(hardcore chars maybe?) Iono. I'll just wait and see before i start shooting me internetz gun. maybe you should do the same.

EDIT : Ok after thinking about a four man volus game...i DO want them now. I suddenly got flashback of that whole ewok- starwars thing. Only with less panting and heaving.

I stopped caring about lore in multiplayer when the Earth DLC came out. Sure the N7s are cool, but they pretty much troll Shepard and Anderson. Besides, I'm finally getting the class I've been waiting for since multiplayer was announced... Turian Infiltrator!!!

Now that I'm getting what I want, I don't mind if people are finally getting their Biotic Gods. I'm honestly surprised the Volus are coming before the Hanar though. To all the people who think having Biotic Gods are ridiculous: be glad there isn't a Volus Soldier. Now THAT would be ridiculous...

We're three classes short of the full 16. I'm thinking they're named strangely, possibly because they're duplicates of races we already have for a given class (honestly, thinking it's a second Turian solder rather than a Turian with tactical cloak).
