It's difficult to care about the mage/templar war. I want to know more about the Architect and his plans. I want to know more about the darkspawn. The war between mages and templars is incredibly boring in comparison.

Also, what does a player do if they don't give a **** who wins the war? Dragon Age 2 failed to make a compelling case for either side or why the player should even care. I don't care about either faction. How am I going to enjoy Dragon Age 3 when I don't care about the plot?

Who's to say da3 won't have both of these plots interacting with each other?

Also after Legacy, It made me miss the Wardens even more.I like the idea of the mage/templar war but how it was done in DA2 did not really keep me as interested as it should of been. The Architect and Corypheus are just more interesting to me at this point.

I suspect the Corypheus may play a role in a sequel, maybe not Dragon Age III but who knows. He might even seek to take advantage of the chaos in DAIII or the aftermath in a future game. I seriously doubt that he, the darkspawn and the truth behind the Black City aren't going to play a role somewhere down the line.

maybe they will do a better job this time and make a more compelling game, because i agree with you in DA2 i usually just sided with anybody who got me a trophy.

Dragon Age 2 is such a goddamn mess. It doesn't matter who you side with, the outcome is the same. Nobody wins. Everyone loses.

Everyone can't enjoy everything.
I don't think that they are going to leave this stuff at least unspoken of. We will probably hear more about him, but id rather have more Qunari. The Arishok was pure awesome in DA2.

I agree. I also want to know the true origin of the taint and darkspawn an epic quest to save the world from the taint complete with darkspawn, magisters the tevinter imperium and wardens out the wazoo would be a game I would be very interested in. But I also do enjoy the mage templar issue, just not the fact that every mage I run into is a bloodmage and bat **** crazy

This whole war between templars and mages seems like an idea used out of desperation. It's like the writers just didn't know what to do or where to take the story with Dragon Age 2. The game itself is just a directionless mess that ends with the player asking "why should I care about your ridiculous war?"

The origins of the darkspawn is a far more compelling story, and is one that already has a solid foundation. It also had people interested and wanting to dive farther into that story. Dragon Age 2 is as an about-face and forces you to go in the opposite direction, and manages to change direction a half-dozen times before the end.

Couldn't disagree more, personally. I care so much more about the mages and templars fighting, and the buildup and results of that than I ever could about glorified orcs.

True dat, sir! I too tire of the constant bickering between the templars/mages. Yes, political conflict is indeed compelling, but I would prefer exploring the less-defined features of Thedas; like plundering the secrets of lost Thaigs, or recovering lost cultural lore as a Dalish.

Given that the writers created a new universe, I am not sure the intergame narratives needs to follow one story arc. Yes, the writers do need to be conscious of event continuity, but I am not sure they are bound to specific settings/characters of each respective game.

In other words, I think the writers were not desperate for direction, but, rather, felt that the inquisition storyline would interest potential players. Posted Image

Because it's so much more grey. It's not "oh no there's a bunch of Always Chaotic Evil Darkspawn coming everyone fight!" There are good points on both sides. Both sides will go to extremes to stay alive and win. The farther they go, the further away a compromise is.

Except for the fact that you end up fighting both of them anwway. There is no real choice in the matter. Yeah, it's so grey.

I don't see how "you end up fighting both of them anyway" (even though you don't, so that's not even true -- you fight Meredith and Orsino, not all the mages and all the templars but whatever that's neither here nor there) invalidates anything that I said.
