I loved Orzammar in DA:O and Kal-Hirol in Awakening. They are so rich and detailed. Very fun to explore and discovering old messages left behind by dwarfs long dead, or seeing dwarven politics at work.

"...on second thought, let's not go to Kal-Sharok. 'Tis a silly place."

I love the dwarves and would love to either visit Kal-Sharok or go back to Orzammar - really liked digging deep into the culture and traditions - along with the Qunari i thing there the most interesting people in DA.

After reading Kal-Sharok's codex entry i wouldn't be surprised if the residents are all inbred, cannibalistic, troglodytes who worship a painted fist sized rock.

I would love the chance to be a dwarf and reclaim some old thaigs from the darkspawn. Especially if after time passed you got to see dwarves actually move in and live there

Impossible, because of  Revil Harrowmont.

But yeah I wouldn't mind seeing it sometime. I don't think it will show up in Inquisitor, but I do expect some hints dropped on what Kal-Sharok is doing.

The place is located between Orlais, and the Anderfels meaning that an appearance in DA3 is possible. All that's needed afterwards is for it to be connected  to the main plot, so that a visit to it won't seem ham fisted.

How does Renvil Harrowmont make it impossible? Maybe he's not aware of this turn of events. (and thus, in for an unpleasant surprise)

We'd have to fight our way through Darkspawn to get there, as Kal-Sharok has no route to the surface. That's what I remember Gaider saying in the past on the forums, which in light of Renvil Harrowmont perplexes me as to how he's going to get there.

Short of Kal-Sharok having created a route to the surface themselves or Renvil understanding that he and his men will have to fight through Darkspawn caverns to get there.

Well, I do recall that Orzammar and Kal-Sharok started conversing with one another fairly recently, and Kal-Sharok was still bitter about how traditional Orzammar was and still is -- unless Bhelen's on the throne.

And given the lack of a route linking Kal-Sharok to the surface like Orzammar has, the two cities must've met with each other -- or had a few emissaries sent -- and would know how their fellow kingdoms fare.

Digging through the deeproads fighting Darkspawn sounds like fun (or maybe Tuesday). I say bring it on baby!
(just so long as there isn't any more creepy poems:?)

Also, because of the bitter relationship Kal-Sharok holds towards Orzammar, they've pretty much abandoned having a caste system and possibly a king.

I think that factors into some of the harsh things they've had to do to survive. Gaider's quote on the topic seemed to imply as much.

Not really, no. The situation in Kal Sharok is... unique. They've had to do some harsh things to survive, having been cut off both from the surface as well as the rest of their kind for so long.

So... Dwarven cannibals?

Sure, why not? Just add it on to the list of places I'd still like to see, whether in DA3 or later...

Still, it could be a sort of "Pilgrim's Rest" situation (Jade Empire reference) where their apparently 'normal' correspondences are just a front to conceal their glorious people-eating ways. So it wouldn't necessarily rule out them being cannibals unless Harrowmont actually made it to Kal-Sharok and was able to report back, uneaten. (but then, maybe they turned him!)

That's the prevailing opinion I've found, and one I share as well. Whether it's right, I have no idea.

Well, I've actually thought about this a little. I've long wanted to visit this place. Seeing as we're going to be in Orlais in DA3, why not?

Dwarves are going to need to play a role somewhere in a DA3 and what better place to visit than Kal-Sharok? Why or how we visit them? I have no idea. Where do dwarves fit into the story in DA3? They can't sit underground and do their own thing when Thedas is about to change...

If not in DA3, then hopefully Kal-Sharok is visited at some point.  I'm a fan of all things dwarven from their beards and short/stocky build to the lore with them and the deep roads.

How else are we supposed to know if Renvil Harrowmont made it safely there?  I do wonder how he and his entourage would fight through darkspawn to get there when they needed Hawke to protect him from a handful of assassins.

As long as we can get a companion there. Instead of the stereotypical dwarven drunkard with a Scottish/Welsh accent, I would like a dwarf that's bat$**t insane that has a thick cockney accent. Why, you ask? Why not?
