I do wonder how he and his entourage would fight through darkspawn to get there when they needed Hawke to protect him from a handful of assassins.

Well, bear in mind that the Carta had agents all over Kirkwall and can't be easily spotted, lorewise. Also, their numbers make it even harder to take them out.

Also bear in mind that the Carta is more intelligent then your average Darkspawn.

I think Renvil and his crew will do fine against some mindless Darkspawn, because they can easily spot them and easily take care of them -- unless a swarm happens, in which case the PC can join in on the fun.

Perhaps.  I certainly wouldn't mind seeing the last of the Harrowmonts survive and keep the line going.

Indeed. I too would like to have Renvil Harrowmont make it to Kal-Sharok, as well as see it firsthand.

Everyone is talking about Renvil Harrowmont, as if he was the default choice. What about those who picked Lord Pyral Harrowmont as King? and get no Renvil running for his life? Looks like they don´t exist, by reading these fora.

For the record, i picked Bhelen too but not for the epilogue. I think Bioware needs to cut some slack over Harrowmont and make his reign at least decent (not so terrible), and make Bhelen do plenty of tyrannical stuff and harsh measures that would make anyone, but specially those that love democracy, question his choice.

As it is, looking at the whole Renvil Harrowmont thing the choice is terribly one-sided, because most want the dwarves to prosper and only Bhelen does that in the epilogue slides. I say ignore the epilogue slides and make something else more grey, where Harrowmont is a diplomat that makes peace and trade arrangements, but is not expansionistic and the society keeps the status quo, and instead Bhelen is a warmonger and tyrant, but the dwarves recover some territory and their society is slightly better for the casteless. The epilogue slide about Harrowmont refusing human aid is just idiotic, that should be scrapped anyway.

I would really like to visit Kal-Sharok and find out what happened to the ones who survived in isolation for so long.

-What questionable things did they have to do to survive?
-Did they 'evolve' during their isolation in some other kind of dwarves with other trades (magic use)?
-Who is negotiating with Orzammar in behalve of Kal-Sharok?
-What are the negotiations about?
-How can they play a role in the struggle for power in topside Thedas (lyrium)?

Kal Sharok used to be the dwarven capital so guessing it must look grand.

All the deep roads are build by dwarves (and digging darkspawn); who's to say they did not dig themselves a route to the topside...Posted Image

As someone pointed out it isn't all that far out of the way from Val Royeaux.

Would be interesting to see how the other half of the dwarven civilization lives.

It will also be interesting to see how Orzammar's reclaiming of land (e.g. Kal'Hirol) affects Kal-Sharok.

That has to be a thousand miles at the absolute least!

I doubt even the entirety of the Grey Wardens could do it.  Even during a Thaw.

If you sided with Bhelen Renvil Harrowmont flees Orzammar as the last of house Harrowmont.  You can help him get to Rivain or turn him into the Carta.

agreed - who would not want to see the first dwarfen capital (and only other dwarfen city) with his or her own eyes :)

even more as maybe we could find out more about that lyrium idol stuff and the primeval taig there (as it is older then orzamar and surely has a shaperate, too...i like lore and a library is lore in its purest form)

greetings LAX

I've wanted to go to Kal-Sharok ever since I've first heard of it, so I hope it gets included in DA3.

Also: I've decided, based on no evidence whatsoever, that the one of the harsh things Kal-Sharok's citizens have had to do was to keep making golems. Since Kal-Sharok was the capital, I posit that their shaperate had a copy of all of Caridin's golem related notes and research, so they were able to completely recreate the anvil of the void. When the darkspawn attacked, and the dwarves were forced to seal themselves in from the outside world, the powers that be decreed that criminals, the sick and infirm, the elderly, the insane, and anyone willing to volunteer, would be turned into golems to defend the city from the darkspawn, which is a practice that continues to this day. I also imagine that the city has been under martial law ever since it was first sealed off and that every citizen would be forced to serve a minimum amount in the military (like the turians).

Kal-Sharok was the first capital.  It was moved to Orzammar before the First Blight.  Golems were only created after the First Blight began.

I think it would be too cliche for the population to turn cannibal, though I do see experimenting with lyrium and other such things similar to Amgarrak. Oh Ancestors....the possibilities.....

I do kinda hope we go to Kal-Sharok. All the lore on that place has been frustratingly vague. By design, I imagine, but it's still kinda confusing. Just about everyone seems to indicate something really weird is going on there, but there has been a conspicious absence of any details. I'm actually not even sure how common knowledge they are supposed to be. There's a dwarf in the Orzammar throne room that mentions that Kal-Sharok has needed to do questionable things to survive as if he he is referring to something specific, but never bothers to elaborate for some reason. There's only been hints.

Perhaps they are the mysterious allies the wardens have that Nathaniel Howe briefly alluded to in Dragon Age 2.

While that would be fun, I want to see other surface dwarves

I'd pay big bucks to hear an Orlesian dwarf or a Rivani dwarf, or a Qunari Dwarf
