I love this game, even with some of its faults. I like the fact that Bioware wanted to create a world full of history and its own uniqness and I commend them for it. But are you freakin serious with the Robes?
Forget the part where we get useless armor, battle after battle that we have to either throw away or sell, but when we do get a decent robe (Like out of 3 possibilities) you make us look like walking bamboons? Seriously? Why the hell do I have fur on my shoulders? Why do I look so ridiculous? I look like a freakin barbarian, thats the first thing that comes to mind. I mean I won't even get to the head wear pieces cause they make my character look like a peacock, thats a whole other post.
I want ROBES!! Like long flowing ROBES! And Hoods that go along with my ROBES! Then I can feel like a true wizard. I want to the don the black mage robes with a cool kick ass staff. (Staves look like crap fyi) After I defeat a Dragon I would like a Staff with 3 dragon claws and an orb in the middle. Now THAT would look awesome, but are you joking with the armor that you have in game?...seriously..? What were you thinking? That the community wouldn't notice? psh.....sooooo disappointed. Thankfully you distracted me with the storyline and my awesome magic powers but you better have good looking armor the next game or else...ha
Please /sign if you agree, maybe this will get their attention. For the purpose of this threat, please no comments back and forth, just /sign if you think the armor for the most part looks RIDICULOUS and needs a new revamp AND the need for more options in sets. Thanks.
Are you serious? What is UP with the freakin Robes?

Yeah, it's not that the Chantry forces Mages to stay in the tower to keep everyone safe. They lock themselves up in there because they are too embarrassed to be seen.

I'm sure they're aware. I doubt anyone outside the dev team will ever know why they were so lax on the armor styles. I try to avoid playing mages, just because of their horrible armor. Maybe there will be DLC for it, or even a really badass modder.

Yes, they're aware(from what I read in an earlier post).
They should make it like baldurs gate 2 - I always thought the robe + cape + hood looked cool.

Has anybody besides me taken a really good look at the Chasind robes on a male mage? Specifically the chest area? It looks like S&M wear for magic users. Leather straps across the top of my PC's chest with just enough cloth above the waist to make sure his nipples are covered. And I thought it made my female mage look scantily clad. Wow..

I vehemently disagree. I like that mages don't look like some recycled Gandalf. Are some of the robes unflattering, sure but then again I'm not sure fashion is the first priority. They have fur and feathers because a lot of the mage stuff (like the Chasinf Robes) are from barbarian tribes.
They've built a world that at least looks somewhat distinct from Generic Fantasy World and that is a credit to them.

Reapers Vestments + Libertarian's Cowl = Awesome
I look like some crazy Voodoo Priest, bringing on the pain.
Honestly, apart from the absolutely ridiculous lower-level hoods (the Libertarian's Cowl is still awesome), I like the art direction of most of the robes. They're refreshing, different, with a purpose and place in the world. The only problem is the lack of visual variety, as with most the armours (only a few models with re-skins for different tiers), but that's not a problem tied only to Mages.
But honestly, if loot was the reason you were playing this game, you should dust off your old copy of Diablo 2 and smack yourself upside the head with it for ever thinking interesting plot, character progression, and tactical combat could make a game interesting for you.

Atleast they look better than the epic Necromancer set in AoC. That crap makes you look like you covered yourself in glue and rolled around on the floor of a barber shop.

I want more fantasy robes. I like 'em with a push up bra sewn right in.

Part of the reason I will always choose spirit warrior...I do not enjoy watching my PC running around in gartered stockings and fur shoulder pads.
I kept thinking, "I'm gonna burn a lot of mana trying to keep warm in this...."

I was thinking it was some unholy fusion of a monkey and bamboo shoots. Flexible, fast, hard, and really really hard to kill.

Um, dream on if you expect them to drastically change anything in the current game as far as how armor and weapons look.
You "might" get lucky in a major expansion pack or in DA2, but right now EA isn't gonna pay their people to just redo some graphics that have no direct effect on gameplay, no matter how many people post threads like this.
Not gonna happen.

AoC Necromancer - concept art for the Tier 3 version, unless I'm mistaken.

AoC Demonologist - again concept art for Tier 3. The head gear looks a bit silly to me and the belt doesn't exactly look like it actually fits your character in game, unless you've got both the chest and leg armor.

The Tier 5-10 Demonologist PvP set looks absolutely wicked

I don't understand the shoulder spikes on a non-tank, but otherwise, this one has some REAL thought:

The get-ups in-game aren't total losses, but there's room for improvement without lookin out-of-realm.

The robes don't bother me too much, but the mage hats are truly awful.

I agree the mage robes-- well at least the one with the fur and S&M plates is ghastly but I dont expect the devs to fix this at such a late juncture.
I dont know why you even ask them to change it. not like we playing an MMO. Are you perhaps hoping an expansion adds new robes???

I don't know about everyone who plays, but one of the biggest enjoyments to a game for me is being able to completely customize my character, from the design down to the colors. Unfortunately that is lacking here. You get awesome customization on the face and head, but it stops there.
I would be willing to bet that if EA created a fully customizable character DLC it would fly off the shelves even at $15 a pop.

I don’t like none of the robes or armour so i fight in the nude, just use boots and ring stuff.
Mind you some of the image art looks good and would love to try them out in the game.

I would pay 7. Anyway, I stopped by to say how much I liked the robes. The Archon robes on a female mage looks cool. The chasind robes on a male look cool. I agree about the hats, sort of. The "crown" part around the scalp, like a headband, I'd keep. The ones that look like hoods can stay. It's those cone-tops with the feathers that look silly, imo.
Otherwise, though, I wanted to say I truly appreciated the swirls that appear on both the circle robes, and also appear as a design element throughout the circle tower. did anyone else notice the recurring design elements?
I hate to disagree with the OP, but for the most part, I do disagree pretty much en toto.
FWIW, I dislike everything shown as far as concept art so far this thread. I do not want a JRPG. this isn't one. There are no little girls in frilly frocks in my party, for which I'm grateful. I don't want to look like Gandalf. And I don't want to look like a freaking horror show. I like the robes here because one could actually imagine wearing them in the real world, in public, not like some of the stuff shown. I like the fabrics. They look velvety (the circle robes). And by the way, I like the circle robes on women, except for that belt thing with the square whatever it is that sits right on the behind. That's just weird.
