More variety would be nice. Personally, I'd love to see some enterprising community member make new robes from the ground up.

My favourite mage look would have to be Soren from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.

What are you all expecting? Stereotypical Gandalf-like wizard robes? I say good riddance! I like most of the robes, so much that I often give Leliana the Archon robes - she looks really nice in them.

I do agree the selection is somewhat limited, but that's why mods are useful.

But....the "cone-head" "hoods"? They are ridiculous. I try to avoid them as much as I can. Whoever thought of that must have a very strange fashion sense, even though there have been stranger things in human history.

Has anybody besides me taken a really good look at the Chasind robes on a male mage? Specifically the chest area? It looks like S&M wear for magic users. Leather straps across the top of my PC's chest with just enough cloth above the waist to make sure his nipples are covered. And I thought it made my female mage look scantily clad. Wow..

Seconded.  I love robes in general, but I am too embarrassed to have my characters (or Wynne... less so Morri) wear half the robes in the game.

My problem is that there are robes in the game, but those are worn by the NPC-s. Look at the mages in the Circle, they have some pretty good ones (the males at least). But I can't find that type of cloth for Morrigan or Wynee.

I also think that some of the mage hats are stupid. My poor Morrigan looks like some kind of nun.

The Tevinter style robes did look rather ridiculous. I didn't really want to walk around in the game dressed as a bird.

That said, the other robes, I found, were rather good. I really liked the Mage and Senior Enchanter's robes, they looked appropriately regal and practical. The Apprentice robes were nice, too, but their stats were rubbish.

The only other type of robes I thought looked brilliant were Avernus's robes. They did look appropriately 'grey' in general - I liked the blue/black approach and the stats on them were excellent.

Hats are another matter. They look like dunce caps.

I think the robes are alright. Could do with more variation but some models look nice. The mage hats are really really awful though. :X None of them look ok on my character.

Yeah, the robes are...so-so for my taste. I appreciate that they fit the setting, long beautiful robes would be totally useless in Ferelden, but still my mage wants to feel pretty :(

On the other hand, I really, really like the style of the robes, with the fur and everything. Those kind of robes were Tevinter in origin, and if the Tevinter Imperium is loosely based on Byzantium, then they make sense and I love that the robes are different from the usual fantasy stuff à la Gandalf or Raistlin. The only that I would have changed is the lower part, 'cause I prefer a totally closed robe like the Circle one... And the Chasind Robe upon a male character was really sexy :P

I thought the apprentice and senior enchanter robe model was alright, if a bit too ornate. Archon Robes were okay except for the excessive feathers at the shoulders. As already stated repeatedly, hats were abyssmal. I could only tolerate one model. The small one those hooded couriers in Denerim wear. That disturbing amalgam of a conical hat and sock however? No thanks.

Still, it could be worse. It could be leather armor which comes in all of one style. Your only choice is with or without leggings. :P

I like the robes for the most part, however I hate the design of the male circle tower robes with a passion. I haven't yet found a mage hat that looked good so I just don't use them.

I refuse to give my mage characters hats. They look... wrong, to say the least.

I swear, one looks like a pineapple.

Clothiing has always been very important to me in a roleplaying game. I was very dissappointed in the lack of variety of clothing in this otherwise awesome game.

Part of the reason I will always choose spirit warrior...I do not enjoy watching my PC running around in gartered stockings and fur shoulder pads.

I kept thinking, "I'm gonna burn a lot of mana trying to keep warm in this...."

Get the Witch's Robes, it has 10% protection against cold, while using the Chasind Robes model :D

Overall, the robes are nice enough, and i do like the look of the Archon robes, especially the Tevinter recoloring of it. The basic female model is nice enough, but i do dislike how the male version looks, epsecially the male version of the Chasind model (as someone said, S&M apparel ).

I do like that Lineage one, good thing i bought the PC version. Sooner or later someone will mod some nice looking armor and robes in the game, i hope they get to the same quality as the Oblivion mods.

I kind of like the sexy "robe" (uch) my mage is wearing at the moment. I don't want to look like any other fantasy mage out there! Not the Gandalf way and not the Final Fantasy way. I think Wynne's robe is really pretty.

The one with the collar and the fur, and the open legs, I think is actually kind of cool. I'm a bit confused whether it's cold or hot though, because she needs the fur collar, while her legs are all bare, but hey....:)
