The robes don't bother me too much, but the mage hats are truly awful.

+1

I wouldn't mind some ninja mage robes, or simply a wider variety of clothes, but honestly, hoods are the problem here, not robes.

I actually quite like most of the robes in this game. Especially the Archon, Tevinter Mage, and Reaper's Vestments robes. I liked the Chasind robes as well, except on the male model, the whole you can see everything but the nipple thing was weird, and i agree: it looked like an S+M outfit.

The robes and the light armor are very blah. . . I was disappointed I thought they would look cooler, but yeah the best is the Chasind robes for shizzle (lol)

DUDE! I'm digging the ROBE! Now THATS what Im talking about, imagine if thats how DAO looked with the bloom effect, and had those robes, and you can actually walk with our staff, like have them use it as a walking stick in "Walking" mode or something for RP purposes. THAT WOULD BE SICK!

Again Bioware, fix your bugs, fix your clothing, (armor, head pieces, weapons), tweaks your graphics a bit more, and you've got an awesome storyline thats enchanting. Until then, I refuse to touch the game again. Love.

I'm trying to retexture my mages robes.  If only I knew how to change the model...oh the possiblities. :crying:

No amount of retexturing is going to fix that mesh. It makes me think of a frumpy Hausfrau who's forgotten that the bra goes under the clothes.

The thing is... those are the ONLY robes in-game.

I don't mind the DAO robes tbh... but variety wouldn't hurt.
Neither would sexy.

Argh yes!!   I wanted to make a chest plate, but I don't know if it will end up convincing.  I can't get rid of the bit that goes up to the neck. :(

I'd like some robes that look a little more dark. I'm a bloodmage and I'm running around in a violet robe. Yeah that's intimidating.

The Templars would love that too. I bet they don't really like having trouble finding Blood Mages that work hard to conceal their identies as Blood Mages. :P Then again, I can imagine provoking Templars into combat on purpose being fun! :D

<3 But then again, I dunno if it would really be practical in a cold climate like Ferelden. But i'm not made of stone.

Why not regular looking clothes except with parts glowing blue showing its been enchanted with lyrium.

why does it NEED to be robes?

Cant mages look like your average joe?

Or are they suppose to look distinct so everyone knows they are a mage?

oh this thread definitely needed necromancy work.

i have to agree with most of the others. though i think they also need to work on 'flow-y' fabrics. with the suggestions already mentioned(robes/capes, sashes) they wouldn't work with the current DA:O-stiff models. the fabric on the characters need to actually move(like the flags) a bit else mages will suffer from walking-Christmas-tree syndrome.

Perhaps DA:O was trying to create a unique look for their mage's, reason for the feathers?except we never see any birds in game...

i like some of the dao designs, but they need something else... i like hoods or circlets for headgear. (lets see if i can find some good mage images) i think the rogues need a fashion overhall too..(i really liked the BG2 assassins at the docks(?) they had a real distinctive look. i saw them and thought 'oh i aint gonna F*** with them!)

Flowing robe/cloaks would require a better physics engine. Right now, nothing really flows well.

Bioware VP Zescuk said in a Joytiq interview,

"I think one of the key things we're working on in Dragon Age 2 is the technology. I can confirm that we're doing a lot of work on the Dragon Age engine, and doing a lot of stuff to pump it -- to make it visually super hot."

Link to that interview is here

http://www.joystiq.c...look-super-hot/

Bioware have a really great foundation and from here it's just building upon that with a wider variety of animations and details which will naturally come with this new technology that Zescuk says they are already working on (the interview was back in 20/1/2010). So we can look forward to somewhat better textures, sky details, general gameplay animations, facial expressions, greater intricacy of hands and feet and perhaps even these flowing robes and hair everyone seems so interested in..

Open world?....I think perhaps a little more freedom might be nice. But to what end? I'd rather they kept it generic and storyline driven so they can put more of a storied significance and detailed graphics into each area.

One of the main strengths of DA:O on my estimation is how it allows you to personalise with your PC and how he/she is able to personalise him/herself with the NPC. They do this by allowing you to change even the characteristics and the conext of your relationship with most of the NPC's. I hope this makes an effective and polished return.

Voice acting: This is another good strength in DA:O that I hope they continue to maintain and can improve upon, if possible.

Also, I don't know if it's truly significant enough to add to the game but a change in weather and day/night cycles might be a nice addition, no?

I like the robes in DA but more variety wouldn't hurt. There's only circle robes in different colours and the robes with the fur shoulders. I would like some sort of outfit with pants for mages as an alternative, like this http://images.bbgsit...-dc-mage-01.jpg

while I like the robes on females I won't be playing a male mage anytime soon :P

But please NO mage bikini *shudder* I think sexy robes can be achieved in other ways than turning the "robe" into a bra and panties. A character walking around in that would just look silly and out of place.

More skin you say? I heartily disagree. We have enough of this from DA Nexus where all the good stuff is getting overwhelmed by bare-midriff, no-armor mods and chainmail bikini.

There is nothing wrong with it yes, personal taste is personal and I don't want to ban anything but who the hell would like to play through the game as a barely clothed barbie doll or naked a guy with a stiff... well you you know what I mean. :?

It really reminds me of TES where it's gotten out of hand and I would hate to see this game changing from Dragon Age: Origins to Dragon Wh*res: Uncensored.:alien:

The robes actual design I was ok with. Not amazing, but nothing to make me go "Damn! these are stupid!" The actual colours of the robes was pretty stupid though.

And the Headwear... good god. Just give me a hood or something and I'd be happy.

Also, dont make them come off during conversations. I mean seriously, I can understand the removing of a proper, face concealing helmet in conversations, but why the things that show your face? Whats the point of that?

this bikini gives me a +3 Willpower, +3 Armor and Improves Blood Magic!
but this other bikini gives me a +3 will power and improves my blood magic, plus matches my outfit. oh god, which one to pick?!

I personally don't like the bikini, it just doesnt 'fit' in DA. on the skin subject though, i like a little skin. i little thing our mothers tell us, if your gonna show skin do one or the other, not both. so its flaunt the top and be modest on the bottom, vice versa. abit of balance...

As long as this doesn't detract from what's most important - Gameplay first and foremost, then I'll be super happy.;)

Also a changing weather cycle would be marvellous - make it so please.:D
